ICC Week 4

I was 4-2 last week and 12-8 overall. Last week was my best missing Everett’s big upset of MV and having had SH as a 2 pt. favorite over Williamsburg. After last weeks results, I think the league powers are right back where they have been most of the past couple years, Mount Union and Bellwood. Northern Bedford’s struggles have been puzzling, but on paper they could knock off anybody on any given week, they are that talented. At the other end of the spectrum, Is this Williamsburg team for real? Would have anyone pegged them for a 3-game winning streak to start the season? On to the predictions in a week with a couple rivalry games on tap.
Juniata Valley at Williamsburg – Big rivalry game in Williamsburg is probably the highlight of this weeks card. Adam McMonagle and Rashaad Knorr are really making this Blue Pirate offense tick while Bill Musser’s JV squad seems very well balanced offensively and stout defensively. I’ve gone against the Blue Pirates often this year and they’ve proved me wrong every time. It’s time to side with Cinderella! Williamsburg 22 Juniata Valley 20.
S.Huntingdon at Mount Union – Devon Kuhstos and Daunte Martin are putting up nice numbers for the Trojan offense. Southern has historically played MU tough in this Huntingdon County rivalry and probably will stay within range for about a half. Then MU turns it on and pulls away late. Mt. Union 35 S.Huntingdon 7.
Everett at Bellwood – Everett rolls into Bellwood with an attitude after a nice win at home to end the Mo Valley win streak. Bellwood appears to be Bellwood of old and Jarrett Tanneyhill is having quite a year with over 200 yards per game passing. Look for Tanneyhill’s big numbers to continue and Bellwood to send the Warriors back to Everett smarting. Bellwood 38 Everett 12.
Glendale at West Branch – West Branch has lost two close games that were winnable in a row. At home they get a Glendale team that was surprisingly competitive last week versus NBC. Was that Glendale improved or NBC going through the motions though? West Branch should be hungry and not go through the motions. WB 35 Glendale 6
Tussey Mt. at Northern Bedford – They call this the Backyard Brawl in Northeastern Bedford County. NB with the obvious talent advantage but will they come to play? Something tells me that TM and the rivalry catches the Panthers attention this week. NBC 46 Tussey 12.
Claysburg at Mo Valley - I mentioned Northern Bedford being puzzling earlier….How about Claysburg? Hagen and Burkett sit at or near the top of the conference in passing and rushing but the ‘Dawgs are 0-3. They were anointed the ‘team on the rise’ by many in the pre-season but they’ve been a big disappointment. Now they travel to Mo Valley on a week when the Black Knights won’t be in a good mood. Their regular season win streak dating back to the 2014 season was broken last week and no doubt Coach Keith will have had their noses to the grindstone this week. Mo Valley 34 Claysburg 20.
