Spangler legion back?

Post by pennstater1212 »

Word on the street is Spangler looking to get back into the Cambria County league. (if not they will go to Indiana) Not sure on Portage and Stoystown. What's the word everyone else is hearing?

Yes that is true. Will be voted on by coaches at next meeting. Not sure it's a good idea for them to get back in since they can't hold a team for more than a couple years. Portage and Stoystown have until next meeting to decide.

If a player is a freshman in college, turned 18 in late 2016 and has never played legion baseball, is he eligible to play?

Yes he'd have this summer to play and that's it.

No he is not. Since he is in college, and did not play on a team last year (while he was in high school) he is not eligible. At least that's what I get out of the rule clarification. This was the new rule added last year when the age was changed.

That's how it used to be. Not anymore. According to the age change last year, that kid has to play on the team before he went to college to be eligible to play while in college. Even if he had played 1 year when he was 15 or 16, then took a year or two off and wanted to come back during his first year of college, he can't.

I did hear that Patton's coach had a fit about it since he has a few of their players. Patton would have to give those players their release first and I can't see that happening! HAHA If those kids decided not to play for Patton anyway, they would still have to be released and Patton would be screwed either or.

My bad hit. With all the rule changes and garbage by-laws they create can't keep it all straight.

No problem. Hard for everyone to keep it straight now. Will be really hard if they decide to put new pitching rules in also. Some changes are good, some bad.
