wow, thats a question many could quite possibly write a book on. the true answer lies within each individual that has been a part of this great sport. some might have done it to win, to be good at something. others might have done it to make others proud of them. yet again, some go out for it for something to do, or just the sheer competitive nature of wrestling. the list could go on for miles. myself, i did it for all of the above reasons, and many more. as for what you get out of it, it would all depend on how involved and engulfed by the sport you truly are. i love wrestling more than any sport there is. i love it becaues there are no excuses, nobody to blame but yourself. its just you and the man across from you. no worrying about somebody botching a pass, missing a shot, or blowing a block. what i got out of my years of wrestling and my sucess is a mindset that nothing can stop me if i work hard enough. people do not lie down for you on the mat, just as the world does not lie down for anyone in it. you gotta earn your keep. thats what i got, but im definately intersted on others perspectives on this matter

Well Said packerfan. the only thing i would add is that you can't lose your spot do to "politics". the only name that counts is the one you make for yourself, not who your parents are.

Exactly,
The best person at that weight is out there on the mat. Its because you did the work and you dealt with the pain. No one else helped you. Wrestling is the best sport, hands down
