I think they should trade him. I read hes making something like 6.1 million, and didnt have that good of a season last year. He was hurt an alot, and who know knows how he will perform this year. The Yankees and i think the bo-sox are interested in him, so I think trade him for some established talent, or someone with VERY promising talent.

(chances are he'll go one to win the Cy Young after he leaves Pitt., which is just our luck)

even if he has a monster year...why pay $6 million to a guy when your team is going to stink regardless. If you can't compete, you can't compete. He will be gone after this year anyway (FA) so get something now while you can.

Pitching is our strong point as well. We have some very good talent in VanBenschoten, Burnett, Oquendo, Bullington, Bradley, Vogelsong, etc...

It doesn't matter if you win 20 games or 80 games if you don't make the playoffs. Get something for him...Trade him now, and they don't have to pay half a year's salary either. Benson is a MAJOR talent, and he will get back to form in my opinion. He will be a TOP pitcher in the Major Leagues, I believe. When healthy, Peter Gammons even said he was Cy Young type material.

What did they say about "Meat" on Bull Durham?Million $ arm and 10 cent head? That's about his bio. Ton of talent,I haven't seen any drive though.Missed starts for lame excuses, etc. If the red sox,Braves, and Yankees are interested now.Let them get into a bidding war and actually get some decent prospects to speed along this 20 year plan to a .500 record Littlefield has.I agree with coach, deal him soon.

benson used to be my favorite player. he had one game against the yankees in spring training like 3 years ago where i havent seen anybody pitch that well. he had like 9 k's on 60 pitches and no earned runs in 6 innings. i think they could get something from the yankees based on this perfomance alone because i remember reading that joe torre thought he was the best young pitcher he had seen in years. benson has the tools and is prolly gonna become jason schmidt, but, like coach said, the bucs have plenty of young pitching prospects and could stand to bring in position player prospect out of the yankee organization and cut payroll since they are losing 30 million dollars a year according to K-MAC.
