PIAA Championships

Post by LeeCorso »

Santamaria from Tussey and Bracken from United both big upsets over NE regional champs to make the quarters. The rest seemed to go as expected for local kids in the first two rounds. Eion Snider from NB had some bad luck with the bracket. The SE regional runner up was upset in his bracket and fell to Snider in the consy's. Anything else I missed from round 1?

Santamaria from Tussey is guaranteed a medal. He lost a tough 5-4 decision to Baker this morning, but came back with a 2-1 victory in TB#2.

Santamaria, deputy, mull and Holmes will all medal. Good showing by the 6 that made it. One thing to consider while district 5 was definitely down the sw regional was very very tough. Sw has 3 of the 4 semi finals at 127 and 189 and two at most of the weights. It was a little weak in the middle but very tough up top and down low.

D5 had a great showing. The boy from Tussey is tough. Two of the 8 placers at 107 from D5.

agreed 100% on the fact that the southwest regional was very very tough and was a meat grinder for sure ill ask this question if the sw wasnt a meat grinder and tough how many more d 5 wrestlers would have qualified

Did anybody else see the WTAJ interview with the 190 pound female champ from BM? She said in her interview that is the reason she came to PA, to get tougher competition. Does anybody know where is from?

The 100 pounder is from Florida. Someone told me she was a cheerleader in football season in FL and a wrestler in Pa in wrestling season. She is listed as a Senior too
