Mazeroski's seventh game walk-off home run in '60.

Stargell's late inning shot in the seventh game of the '79 series that proved to be the winning margin.

A long forgotten home run---in the same game that Maz had his heroics--Hal Smith hit a three run shot that tied the game against the Yanks.

OK--so I'm a Pirate fan.

hmm

How about Kirk Gibson's HR to win game one of the 1988 WS vs. Oakland???

Gibson was injured and looked sick on his first several swings. He was barely fouling balls off. He had a severely pulled hamstring and couldn'e even walk straight walk let alone swing a bat and run.

Then, he reached out and hits a hanging slider into the right center field seats at Chavez Ravine off one of the best closers in MLB history (Dennis Eck) to win the game.

It was Gibson's only AB in the WS.

As Vin Scully said, "I cannot believe what I have just seen!"

OK, even I was only a baby when it happened, but the Giant's Bobby Thompson's "shot heard 'round the world", to beat the Dodgers and send the Giants into the series, about 1951 I believe.

LOL---I truly was going to mention Gibson and Thompson as honorable mentions and I thought of the Jays--Phillies series but couldn't remember Joe Carter's name.

How about

Aaron's 715th

Maris's 61st

McGuire's 62-70

Reggie Jackson's 3rd homer in a series game.

Carlton Fisk's homer to send the series to the seventh against the Reds.

And finally---if its a true story that Babe Ruth actually pointed to center field and said he was going to hit the next pitch over the wall there---that may well be the greatest home run ever.
