Ken Griffey Jr. is going for his 500th career home run, and is currently playing for the Cincinnati Reds (which is very close to where I am now, in northern Kentucky). Once he achieves this, he will be only the 20th major leaguer to reach the 500 home run plateau. I think it is very cool that this is going on.
Oh yes, and runnerbyproxy is going to see the game tomorrow, courtesy of the company she works for. I wonder if she'll see number 500 fly over the outfield fence.

He wont hit it until he stops pressing about hitting it. He is tring too hard and just needs to let loose. He is even worried about what announcer is going to call his home run which no one will even remember in 10 years. If he just worries about makin good contact the ball will start flying outta the park again.

I don't really follow baseball that closely, but many people out here in Cincinnati are so excited to have one of their own on the verge of hitting 500 homers. And I have to agree, he's probably giving it too much thought for his own good. He failed to homer yesterday, but the Reds did win 4-3 to sweep the Rangers, after losing 7 straight. They are 2 games away from the division lead.

His 500th came last night at St. Louis as the Reds beat the Cards 6-0.
