One of the best things I've seen this year was that player for the Cards who gave old Tony LaRussa the finger. Priceless! It was wrong, he shouldn't have done it, it sets a bad example for kids and blah blah blah. But it was still great to see considering I personally can't stand the object of the bird. And I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

Ah, the history of giving the finger. Here's what I heard. Back many, many years ago, the French hated the English. Because of this there were many wars between the countries. It was the habit of the French to cut off the middle finger of any English captured in battle, so that they could never ever shoot their longbows again. Anyhow, there was one particular battle where the French severely outnumbered the English, a battle in which there was NO way that the French were going to lose. However, somehow, someway the English took the field that day. As the English soldiers paraded past the captured French, they all showed them their middle fingers. Where the F you came from, I don't know.
