I know Hyndman is having practices every Thursday night for anyone who is planning on playing or if you just want to have some fun.

I would think that all of the teams are practicing or conditioning in preparation for the upcoming season.

There are PIAA rules stating that during the summer school-sponsored fall sports teams cannot hold practices before the beginning of the actual season, which usually starts 2 or 3 weeks before the term starts. There are lots of ways to get around this, though. Lots of teams play in the Keystone State games, in PaWest leagues, etc while still being coached by their high school coaches. Another way to get around the 'no practice' thing is to just have pick up games or what I like to call 'Open Field' where kids show up at their own will, its not mandatory, and its just fun stuff.

i know bedford has "non-mandatory" practices in just about every sport (except golf which doesnt practice during the regular season let alone the summer) but the coaches just tell the kids that they dont have to show up but they also let them know that if they dont then theyre gonna have to work twice as hard during camp to get a starting spot. so basically u dont have to show up but ur only screwin urself. but its all legal...gotta love loop-holes!

To tell the truth, its basically the same in college, too. My college team plays for a PaWest league at the Norwin Soccer Complex in Irwin and even though our school coach isn't allowed to coach us (we basically coach ourselves with some of the guys from the guys team) he shows up to see how everyone is performing and basically to check to see if we're actually doing our "optional" conditioning.

Yep...that's Turner Valley. Its still in pretty nice shape. The field that I've played the past two games on has some weird mow-job, though...there's a circle cut in the one corner and the grass must have grown up funny 'cause when you go to dribble over it, it kicks the ball off course!

from what i remember there were 3 fields on the left side of the creek (side w/ the kickwall) and i think 4 on the hills of the rite side, i always favored the fields on the hill personally.
