87 Orange Bowl vs 03 Fiesta Bowl
Just wanted to throw this one out and see if anyone runs with it. They were probably the two greatest upsets in college football championship games in the past 20 years. Both involved stacked Miami teams. Both Ohio State and Penn State played incredible defensive games and had some luck to win. I tend to think the 03 Fiesta Bowl was better because it went into double overtime, but I am an OSU fan.

Former Wildcat,
I believe it was the '87 Fiesta Bowl that Penn State beat Miami. Penn State played in the Orange Bowl in '86 when the took the "L" to Oklahoma in the game that decided the national championship.
My opinion on the two games, both outstanding. I think I would have to give the OSU game the nod for bigger upset, based on how I perceived the teams before the games. OSU had a few too many nail-biters for my liking to even give them a chance against a team that hadn't lost a game in almost three years. Also, I wore the blue and white goggles during the '86 - '87 season so I probably didn't think Penn State was an underdog at all based on my fan status (sometimes clouds rational judgement). I guess to give you a good answer, I'd have to go back and review both Penn State's and Miami's seasons coming into that game. I guess that means a not sure.
Sorry I didn't complete this earlier Wildcat. Got thrown off before I could submit it. Good topic, though!

03 orange bowl was much better because both teams came in undefeated and ohio state was considered the underdog and i enjoyed that game very much
