I would have to say that Tommy Glavine NYM, Brett Tomko SFG, Pedro Martinez BRS, Curt Schilling BRS, and Tim Wakefield!

i'd go with the former pirate jason schmidt...although he doesn't have to worry about pitching to barry bonds...he's a good pitcher

It is hard to pick a best pitcher, and even though my favorite is Pedro Martinez and he is still great i'd have to say Jason Schmidt or someone no one has mentioned, Johan Santana. Santana's stuff is sick, and he has been unstoppable since the all star break. I'm not sure where you got Tomko and Glavine at, neither have many wins and their era's arent very impressive. Even though I like Boston Wakefield hasnt had a very good year either, but Schilling and Pedro have been tough.

pizzasagent, are you brett tomko?? are you a relative of brett tomko?? you must be to think the guy is even a decent major league pitcher. brett tomko, lol
santana, schmidt, schilling, johnson, ben sheetz, and carlos zambrano are all excellent pitchers right now. oliver perez is the guy to look out for. he is tough to hit now, but once he gets his control down, he will be unstoppable.

Let's not forget Roger Clemens. 17 wins and has the fewest losses of any pitcher in MLB with more than 9 wins.
and he's 42 yrs old!

I just read an article on espn.com about this..kind of odd they wrote an article a couple days after this thread was made.

Going with that article, Santana is pitching the best ball right now and should be a Cy Young winner this year.

I would have to go with Randy Johnson. Even though Roger Clemens is up there too, at this point, I think Johnson will be the better pitcher closing in on playoffs.
