Situation #1

It's half time and the score is 5-0 in your favor. You have two keepers. Do you keep the starting keeper in to go for the shut-out, or put your other keeper in to get game experience?

*side note*
Your team as all ready expressed there thoughts to keep in the starting keeper

to me, if the second goalie is younger i.e. in a younger class, then i'd put him in for experience for the next year, if they're in the same class i keep the other one in

Situation #2

Near the end of high scoring game.

As coach of the winning team do you put in your JV and tell them to just run the clock down by passing the ball around or play the game out?

If you’re the coach of the team down and know that the other team is just going to pass the ball around do you leave or play on?

This is in response to the last situation, the one sided/high scoring game.

I don't think you play your JV if you're not going to get them game experience. So no I don't put the JV in and ask them to pass the ball around. I would never ask my young guys to clean up after my Varsity, if I would decide to run out time - I let the guys who started it finish it. If I decide to let the JV play, I let them PLAY!!!

In all reality, what I'd be more apt to do is, once we get up by some goals, to start replacing my Seniors with underclassmen to get them some playing time with a team they are more likely to play with during that summer and following Varsity season.

Also if I am on the losing side of the blowout, I would never stop playing. I may make some substitutions to try to get a spark, but I never throw in the towel until the final whistle. It may just be the way I was coached but I never want to concede a loss, never am I willing to admit that I was not the better man. And I also believe that if you're a true competitor you want to keep playing, and if you're playing hard I can't deny you that.

Those are my thoughts on the situation, yours might be different. Let me know what everyone thinks.

why do i have a feeling greensleevss is talking about the Bedford vs forest hills game last night? (both situations are identical scenarios from the game)
in response to the first situation, it depends on how much the starting keeper is being pressured, if he is having to make outstanding saves now and then, then by all means keep him in, if on the other hand, he has only touched the ball once or twice the entire half, then i say put in the back up and let him get experience.

in response to the second situation, i say put in the JV and have them work on their passing...everyone knows that JV is pretty pathetic when it comes to good passing and what not, so why not give them a chance to improve upon it? i dont consider it unsportsmanlike at all to play keep away with a team rather than run the score up.

well gunner the first situation was from a CR game and we have 2 varsity goalies, the first goalie was making some saves but nothing really spectacular.

#1. I would put the younger goalie to get game time, and also so not to hurt my varsity goalie..#2. Put the JV in, if your going to win the game, why not give your younger guys some game time vs varsity talent. Let them play, tell them hey, you need to make 2 passes before every shot. or something like that, if the JV is still beating up on the varisty team.
