He saw the writing on the wall and probably wanted out before the high profile college jobs (Florida??) are filled.

why not. Hes a good coach, just got put with a poor team. I do recall reading somewhere he was the coach of miami, and did a good job? maybe? I bet it was one of those, heres your options your resign, or we fire you. Which looks better??
