Early #1, Wake Forest, gets hammered by Illinois

Post by Coach »

Illinois was up 54-33 at halftime...

St. Francis also stayed closer with Pitt than PSU probably will...65-41 Pitt wins at home and was up 11 at the half vs. a pretty good small local team that will be fun to follow. D. Luckey scored 19 for SFU.

Hey, Just got back from the Pitt/SFU game. SFU hung in there for the first 10-12 minutes, but then Pitt just destroyed them defensively and physically.

Shaler Area product Yuri Demetris (who also provided my courtside seats, haha) is the starting 3 guard for Pitt and continued to play very solid basketball for the 13th ranked Panthers.

Yuri was 2-2 shooting and 2-2 from 3-point land for 6 points. He also had a team leading 6 assists, including several beautiful feeds inside to Chevy Troutman, who destroyed The Red Flash inside scoring 22 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Through Pitt's first 4 games, Yuri is averaging 6ppg (60% from 3-point range), 4apg, and 3rpg, while committing only 1 turnover per game. a 4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio is outstanding.

Darshawn "I force the ball up from everywhere" Luckey had 19 for SFU, but threw up 20+ shots. Don't kid yourself: Luckey wouldn't even smell the floor if he played for Pitt. He does nothing for his team except chuck it up...He doesn't play one bit of defense, moves very poorly without the ball, and has lousy court vision. When his shot's not falling, he's useless, and actually a detriment to his team.

BTW--PSU beats Rutgers by 4 tonight. Surprise, surprise.
