VICTORY!!

Post by Sto »

Northern Wins, last night 43-36 over a horrible shooting McConnelsburg team. Northern was led once again by Kristi Barton who had 22 points putting her over 100 for the season thus far. The girls looked great, especially in the first quarter when the shots just seemed to fall everywhere. The downfall of the game was when Northern led by I believe 14 or 15 points and continued to try to charge the ball down the court. This is the second time they hve made a mistake like this and it almost came back to haunt them again. Luckily they were able to pull this one out, but if Joe doesnt teach these girls some kind of slow down offense, this winning may not be a regular thing. I think we will be ok form now on through the season unless we continue to get this poor officiating, as last night I swear I could see a blue Spartans T-shirt under the one refs stripes, maybe it was just a bad angle though.

The one official last night has done more state finals than any other female official in state history! Very solid crew that only comes to NB because of connections w/A.D. Turn down college games to come to NB. Game was so sloppy (ballhandling in particular) that it was very tough to call. And I don't think I've ever been to a game where they get 'em all right. As for NB lack of poise....two things...they don't "preserve" their dribble and they have their heads down and dribble into double teams consistently. Definitely need work with that but have to be elated with a win like this (certainly unexpected!) in which they looked better than anyone could have ever imagined in the first half. These girls have come a long way and are developing nicely...Great job coaching staff! Good to finally see some player development in this program.

ballhandling was definatley poor, on both sides. What really suprised me was how poor the shooting was for MC. never expected that at all.

Being that people are commenting on officating the PIAA needs officials especially basketball officials. If people are going to comment on them why dont u go take the test and become an PIAA offcial???? LOve hearing people gripe about officiating when they have ability to become an official themselves. U put on the stripes and go officiate and just see how EASY it really is.

Bad officiatin is one thing but when you only blow the whistle twice th whole game thats just bad.

well like i said I am serious, not being critical of your statement, PIAA needs young bucks like yourself who no the game. Seriously u should think about it. I agree only blowing whistle couple times is bad. Decent money in officiating.
