Team Previews...
finally have some free time on my hands so i dug up some info about some district 6 teams...
Forest Hills - the obvious team to beat here...the team got first in the thomas tournament and the southwest regional tournament as well last season...key wrestlers that return are jared baxter(103), shane valko(112), jake strayer(119), art moss(140), james moss(145, and i felt possitive he graduated, but apparently not), sean kissel(189), and i think nick paluch(215) should be back from an injury this season...D6 champs, no doubt about it
Claysburg - not 1 senior on last years squad should mean that this years version should continue the recent trend of good bulldog teams...the lightweights should be their strenghs with whetstone(103) and mcintyre(125) coming back...the middle and upper weights will be solidified by regional qualifiers corey deffibaugh(140) and jeremy knott(152), along with derrick musselman(189) and tony parris(275)...some other key wrestlers will be johnny weyandt(130), bobby ciaverella(160), and Ian Leslie(145)...
Tyrone - eaglealum can give us a nice writeup about his eagles im sure
, but heres what i have...tyrone has a nice nucleus returning, led by senior thad westley(125)...top wreslters robby waite(103), dane mcclosky(119), david miller(135), brice mertiff(145), and terry tate(275) bring the hope of a big season to the table...should definetely be a top team in D6 this year...also, how many different singlets does tyrone have?...every time i see a kid from tyrone wrestling he has a new uni on...
Penns Valley - Another team with a plethora of talent coming back for 03/04...some key returning wrestlers that come to mind are middle weights brett gephart(130), preston shawver(135) and bob thompson(140)...
Central Cambria - this team has been getting some props on some other message boards, so i myself was interested to check into what they have this year...nate berezansky(119), steve makin(130), brenton ditchcreek, and brad dugan(171) look to be their top wrestlers...mark anderson(275) looks to be an interesting story...the senior has never gotten to wrestle a varsity match due to state champion nate morris being around...but morris has since graduated and hands over the spot to anderson, who was nearly as good as morris last year...
West Branch - surprisingly enough, west branch has some pretty decent wrestlers returning this year...their star over the past 4 years has been state champ jerad riccotta, but his graduation doesnt mean the end for the warriors...brandon lefort(103), sophomore standout donnie clark(119), nathan owens(135), justin wilkinson(145), and zach mcdowell(189) are a few names to check for in your 2004 regional program...
