at the begining of this year i was gonna cut from 175 to 145..because i didnt think that i was gonna be able to make varsity because my team is so stacked..i dont have alot of fat or anything but i cut back to about 150 and the last 5lbs i was killing myself.and then i started to starve myself then i just woke up one day and said its not worth it and i ate again and after a day i weighed 165 again..lucky for me my team mate wanted to go 45 cuz he thought he would be stronger.but sometimes cutting weight makes you weaker...thats my point i guess

You're completely twisting things now Dep. We weren't comparing weight cutters now to weight cutters 10, 20, even 5 years ago. I know this...I've been around. And I've also been around enough to know who is cutting weight right and who isn't. I know that most kids skip meals and dehydrate themselves to an unhealthy point. I did it myself at one point in life. And that is probably why I am 5'7" and never growing another inch. A high school kid, and any level below that, should be eating 5-6 meals a day with miniscule proportions, while working out, so the metabolism is high and naturally cutting weight off.
The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, "The Lord is with you oh valiant warrior." Judges 6:12
Surprisingly I agree with Dep on this one. The discipline I learned during the cutting weight process is a life long experience I would never change. My decision to cut weight (with coaches' guidance) and then making it, were tough experiences but profitable. I always pretty much followed what dad and mom thought. This was something I went out and achieved on my own.
Now they'll say I can't go down because of the rule. I remember how interesting it was to try to guess who would go down a class and who wouldn't.

Watching over the past year I observed some things that this rule with half of your weigh-ins at your post season weight. wrestlers are starving themselves longer. when the post season rolled around before, wrestlers would then decided where to go, like sneakers stated. Now they are cutting themselves down and bouncing back up right after the weigh-in. I feel this is more detrimental to their health than loosing weight just for the post season.
4him - does genetics have anything to do with you only being 5'7"?
