Jon Ramey's Baseball Antics...

Post by S Cube »

billywhiteshoes asked for it so here it is...what is your favorite jon ramey baseball story?

my personal favorite has to be the time at stoystown two summers ago...jon is having a rough day and after a disappointing strike out, he decides to take his frustration out on some trees behind the field at conemaugh twp. high school...he takes the worst bat we have into the woods and takes some of his best hacks of the season...i dont think i have ever laughed that hard in my life...

LOL yes that was a historic event

Another good one was a home game this past year after another disappointing AB he comes back 2 the dugout sits down and proceeds 2 shake the bench giving everyone on that bench a "roller-coaster" ride.

Ah good ol Jon

I've been in attendance at many Bedford HS games along with Hurricanes games.... If I had a dollar for everytime Ramey hit himself in the head with the bat after a K I'd be a very wealthy man.

how about the time in johnstown at dee dee osbornes showcase...there had to be about 30 college coaches in attendance for this...we take batting practice...every batter gets 10 swings...jon comes up to bat and hits foul balls on about 8 of his 10 swings lol...

This is off the subject but ask John what goes on first the paint or the primer

Oh yes i'll miss the rollercoaster rides. One of my fondest memories of ramey was when Huxta and I ate all his seeds. He got really mad. The next game he had them hid loose in a side pocket of his bag. We found them and ate them all while he was up at bat. When he came back in i almost lost my life. I eventually gave him another pack of seeds that i had found in a bag that had to be 4 years old. Ramey enjoyed them.

ah yes 3S Camp Osborne brought about many stories of jon.....

A coach from Shippensburg, Bruce Petty (Player for the Pirates, and coach of current Red Sox player Kevin Millar), was instructing us on how to steal bases and the steps involved, of course ramey did not agree and proceeded 2 tell the coach how it really should be...LOL...

My first year of Pony League, our home field was out at Colerain Rec Park...we're tied in the last inning and someone hits in the winning run. Ramey is sitting on the bench and is so happy he jumps up and into the air...ramming his head into the 2x4 running over head. lol, had to get something like 8-10 stitches, blood was everywhere.

How can I forget this...

We have the baseball on a rubber string that hooks to the fence to get your throwing arm loose before you go throw (you can simulate throwing with tension to stretch your arm). Ramey is up there practicing throwing with his left and right arm...huxta makes a crack about ramey using the wrong arm and ramey flips out lol.

...or Ramey loosening up before coming up to the plate with the big hammer. Everyone else has to swing it really slowly and can barely get it around...John picks it up and you'd think he was swinging a fungo bat. Only guy I ever saw actually snap the hammer through.

...or the ephis pitch he threw...

lol, i'm gonna miss john this spring
