Yes, yes, and both parties offered us the Patriot Act after 9-11, which I'm sure just about everybody can agree is a huge infringement upon personal freedom.

And the Republicans also gave us the war in Iraq, which has produced nothing but needless bloodshed, over non existent weapons of mass destruction. Such a stellar record.

No solutions, but darn good with rhetoric.

I'm pretty sure that any party not in power hence becomes a party full of whiners.

No solutions? How about "worry about yourself", "wipe your own ***", "rake your own leaves before you point your finger at your neighbor's yard".

Of course, any discontentment with the status quo is interpreted as whining. So tell LP, what do you think of the high oil prices, and that same Patriot Act?

As for the oil prices. Heck yeah I hate high oil prices. When you get to college you'll probably take an Economics 101 course. They'll talk about supply and demand. China is demanding more oil now with their industrialization, and OPEC nations aren't increasing supply enough to keep up with world demand.

Here's your solution. In the short term, drill more oil here at home. For the long term, start now finding alternate sources - ones that will work.

Ok all you Bush haters - now go out to your web sites and pull down your articles to tell me just how "wrong" I am. I don't buy it, and a lot of others don't either.

I also notice that "Have you forgotten" mentions Bin Laden, not Hussein or Iraq. I said a long time ago that the war in Afghanistan was justified. We were defending ourselves by taking out those who attacked us. The war in Iraq is a whole different set of circumstances.

We were flat out lied to about why we "needed" to take Saddam down. I'm sure you'll argue that it's better to have this lunatic out of the way and I can't disagree with that. However, do the means justify the ends? Is our goal to take down every tyrant in the world? Is it to bring democracy to every country that does not have it? If that is the case, then the USA has a lot more work to do. I can accept that premise a lot more than I can can accept being lied to.

Is it better to have this madman out of the way? The demographics of the reason suggest that it may not be. We have strife and civil war, and no country like that is ever going to be a true democracy. Sunnis and Shites hate one another, and whichever one is in the minority may be sent to the killing fields. Whenever the U.S. pulls out, this whole thing's going to blow up. It would take a madman or a very strict dictator to keep this situation from boiling over. Iraq will, in all likelihood, never get democracy to work.


So LP, you are fine with the federal government, for no reason, looking at what books you are buying and renting? Are you naive enough to believe that they will only use that whenever they seriously suspect anybody of being a terrorist? No, they'll use it to look after whoever disagrees with their views. I'm sure Michael Moore's book list is frequently updated by George W. Didn't one of our founding fathers say that "Whoever sacrifices freedom for safety deserves neither." And I would say that whoever does that gets neither as well.

Gas prices, wait a minute. You're forgetting that the President at the helm is in cahoots with the big oil industry, and that he used to be an oil driller himself. That's money in his pocket. No matter what he says, the man doesn't give a **** about high gas prices. It's just more money in his pocket. But I agree with you on solutions.
