I am very glad I got to see this post. I work for charter communications in the Johnstown area and we do a local game of the week on TV and also a preseason show to highlight our area teams and their conferences. From what I am hearing, I guess I should pick Central as my Section 1 champs. Actually, I don't really see anyone else in that section being a legitimate threat.
Now Section 2 is loaded with teams who are capable of beating eachother on any given night. Johnstown returns their nucleus of Andrews, Maurer and Ingram and has added some scoring punch from the inside. Westy has lost Ally Buchan for the season but is getting Krista Britcher back early from knee surgery. Westy also returns everyone from last years team and a very talented crop of freshmen and sophomores. They also have a new coach who, I feel, will instill a more fundamental and disciplined approach to their game.
Richland has to replace Krischer which...lets be honest...is impossible. Although I think they have a good group of athletes and decent size, they just don't seem to want to be physical with anyone...which is the trademark of LHAC girls bball. BC will be the BC of old with a bunch of quick, fast kids who can play d and shoot the three. These kids are seasoned and will not wilt under any pressure.
My picks Central and Jtown in the title game. Central and Westy in the D6 title game.
