I am tired of the Heisman winner always being the quarterback of the best team. If you are not a running back or quarterback you do not have a shot (maybe a WR).
So it does not matter what position they play, who they played for, or if they are a freshman or a senior on my list:

2. DeAngelo Williams RB Memphis- 1,083 yds., 10 TD's

1. Drew Stanton QB Michigan State- 184.02 rat., 1806 yds., 15 TD's

This is a one man race....and that man is Reggie Bush. He is the best player in college football and he plays for the best team in college football.

Reggie Bush just won the Heisman last week with what he did vs. ND in ND. Game over.

Like it or not, the Heisman, while it is supposed to be about the best player in all of college football, it's really about the best player on a really good team. In other words, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, no matter how good they are, wouldn't be talked about for the Heisman nearly as much if USC lost 4 games this season. Reggie Bush could rush for 3,000 yards, but if USC went 6-5, I guarentee he wouldn't win the Heisman trophy. And that really, goes for any other player in college football.

So, realistically, three of your top 5 Heisman people are eliminated. Purdue has lost 4 games already, Ohio and Memphis have lost 3 apiece, and that's not to mention that those last two teams don't get any national respect because they play in the MAC and C-USA. Drew Stanton can really afford only one more loss if he is to be in the Heisman race, and Vince Young is overhyped.

Really, I think Reggie Bush will win it, especially since he's helped by gaining nearly 8 yards per carry. I hate USC, but I gotta give it to him if nothing else. He's the best player on the best team, and probably the most explosive runner in the country. He'll win it hands down.

No, the Heisman Trophy 9 out of 10 times goes to the guy who had the best performance against Notre Dame.

I still think Vince Young has a legitimate shot at getting it. You have to remember Leinart will receiver of Bush's votes and vice-versa. Bush had a great performance against Notre Dame last week. However, there's still a lot of football to be played. He could get hurt this week and be done for the year. So, the Heisman race is definitely not over yet.
