Adu was born in Ghana then moved to the US after his family won a lottery to be selected to come here. he started school a year early, skipped 7th grade, took 10th and 11th in the same year and is set to graduate this year.

I read that in the Europeen Union athletes are not able to compete in professionally until they reach age 16. Adu would have been able to practice with the team but not compete in matches.

Nike signed Adu to a million dollar shoe deal when he was 13.

It was cool to watch Man. U. and Tottenham play over the weekend with two USA dudes in goal. Howard for the Devils and Friedel for the Rangers.

All I know is I hope that Freddy Adu will help bring more attention to soccer in the US. Maybe even help out the MLS . Speaking of which, Landon Donovan is a freaking beast man. He ripped into the Fire, who have the best Defense in the league. Crazy Skill. Oh and lets hope Arsenal can stay in the UEFA with a win in Italy.

Adu would have been on the under-17s team if he would have joined with any European team, or he could have gone to one of the academies that most teams have, its a school from 1st grade thru 12th where you go to about 4 hours of school every day and about 5 hours of soccer, occasionally you get to train with the first team or the reserves and can get free tickets to most matches, its really quite awesome. once Adu turns 16 he will most likely cross the pond.

and why would we hope for arsenal to stay? the only reason i want them to is to represent the EPL, other than that i hope theyre one of the first teams to go home, wenger has no sense of discipline and it shows through his players, they are nothing but a bunch of thugs. they use the philosiphy "if u cant beat them, BEAT them" they are a disgrace to english soccer.
