Central at Bedford

The Bisons lost to a fine Central team 71-55 tonight, giving the Scarlet Dragons a good game. Moral victories sometimes don't mean much when you're on a losing skid, but the Bedford boys, with four of their beginning of the season starters injured or no longer part of the team, played hard and looked pretty dang good. Cory Arnold played like a man possessed. He scored 16 and probably had double figures in rebounding too. Hats off to everyone else too. As a former Bedford player, teacher, coach, and forever fan, I was proud of the Bisons. Though my kids played/play for Ridge and the current Bisons players are the Lions' opponents, I was glad to see no one was even thinking of giving up.
Despite the nightmarish season the Bisons are having, people should also be proud of them, though I guess nobody wants to get on BC and give them some props, especially with the wrestlers doing so well. Nothing new there, though. I certainly am aware that wrestling is the winter king and all that in this area -- it was that way in 1966 and still in 2006-- but even when the Bisons are successful there isn't much support except for parents and some die hard fans.
I know one thing: the remaining teams on the Bedford schedule better have their heads together, especially if they're coming into the Bison gym.
