Pitt soph/Shaler Area grad Sam Bair set to break 4:00 mile!!

Last weekend at PSU, Shaler Area grad and current Pitt soph Sam Bair narrowly missed going under 4:00 in the mile, running a 4:00.14 at Penn State, a new track record, a Pitt record, and a provisional qualifier for NCAA D1s.
Sam will be running in an invitational-only men's mile at Notre Dame this weekend, and with a fast pace should dip under 4:00.That would make history as Sam and his father would become the first ever father/son to run a sub-4 minute mile in USA Track and Field history.
You may recall Sam as a 2 time PIAA champ in the 1600m run in high school with a PR of 4:08 (run as a junior) who also ran a sick 1:50.39 800m time as a junior in HS. A foot injury in his senior season prevented Sam from becoming a 3 time PIAA champ at 1600m.
Any WPIAL track and field fan knows what a first class act both Sam and his father are. If ever any father/son were deserving of such an honor, it's them.
Here's hoping Sam gets his first of many more sub-4:00s this weekend!
