Two ham-and-eggers from the Pitt Nation, Ol' Moldy and Double H, have already, one whole day later, tried to diminish the Big Ten's draft classes for 2006. Now, as we all know, it is the fault of the college when a player leaves school, either becomes a bust, gets drafted, doesn't get drafted, or becomes the best player in the NFL. It is somehow equally Joe Paterno's fault that DJ Dozier didn't break Emmit Smith's record as it is Walt Harris's fault for the disappearance of record-breaking QB Rod Rutherford or the Antonio Bryant / Big Tuna yelling and towel fiasco. If that isn't the stupidest argument I've ever heard, I don't know what is.

But because I do love arguing with the simple-minded common-folk, I've compiled this comprehensive list of the Big East and Big Ten 2006 draft outcomes. Take your laptop over to the bathroom, because these numbers are going to make you throw up quicker than waking up with a hangover in the same bed as Pale Rider.

Yikes. 41 to 11 and the round breakdowns are downright embarrassing. Big East flagship WVU gets 1 kid drafted, while Indiana managed to get 2, neither of which are school record-breaking QB Blake Powers, who isn't a senior yet.


Moldo humbled by the numbers. You are lucky to get the Whammy with a lawnmower instead of the Iron Sheik.

Big Ten had more by half way through round three as Big East had total.

TAE, you are a tad bit sensitive and paranoid. I wasn't ripping on the Big 11 at all. I was simply stating what a shock it was that Michigan did not have a player drafted on the first day. When was the last time this happened?

Double H, it's all good in the hood. It is strange, yes, but I do believe both Watson and Avant are going to be good additions to their respective teams. There's a lot of players that went in the second day that I was very surprised went as low as they did. One for sure is Ko Simpson from So. Carolina.

I didn't try to diminish the Big Ten's recruiting classes, just Penn State's class. It is a shame though that the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Year was not even considered in the draft for the position he played during the season. And a Big Ten all conference defensive end did not even get drafted.

JoePa just doesn't have all those NFL connections that Wanny does. Had Robinson played for Wanny the Texans surely would have taken him first in the draft.

Notice you don't see Moldo talking about the Big East Defensive Player of the year going so late in the draft (what, Elvis Dumervil went in the 4th round)?? I guess that shows you want the NFL thinks of those Big East defenses.

Robinson deserved that award. The game is totally different from HS to NCAA to NFL. Like I have said numerous times: the NFL is all about timing and placement.
