For what it's worth...my analysis
I predicted an Everett 6 pt. win...here's why:
Physical ability and athleticism- Bedford....Give them a 15 pt. edge right from the get-go in this category but in analyzing the rest of the ingredients I see Everett chipping away at this Bison advantage.
BENCH- Advantage Everett....this is a no-brainer....Garland, Clingerman, Cessna, Miller, Koontz, Hall, S.Foor and Chip Hays the Warriors go 8 deep and 7 of those 8 would be starters for the Bisons.
DEFENSE- Surprise....Everett (How many times could you have given this advantage to Everett over the years!?!?) Basing this on what I saw from the Bisons last year. They did not play a real disciplined, team oriented defense....on ball good/off ball questionable....Everett plays a better "team defense" and I'll predict Sloan Clingerman will take 2-3 charges on the Harris boys when they do beat Miller and Garland to the hole. The other thing is Everett will change defenses when Bedford gets comfortable against anything in particular which I think is wise with Bedford's raw talent. Bedford will go straight man throughout in all likelihood.
DISCIPLINE- Everett....I've seen Bedford take ill-advised shots...force the issue...Everett will take good shots especially if they are right with the Bisons or in the lead. The intangible here is that Everett can't let Bedford get on a roll during the game and take any kind of substantial lead or this advantage is negated and the Bisons win. Miller will set people up for some good looks and the Warriors have the offensive skills to take care of the ball while waiting for a Bedford defensive mistake. I see Bedford as being capable of taking some bad looks and I don't think they realize how much they will miss a "tower" inside.
My gut instinct tells me Everett keeps it close, minimizes any Bedford "runs" during the game and wins a close won. Of course if the Bisons of taken care of some of my perceived flaws then it's easy...Bisons by double digits.
I'm basing a lot on last year and realize things can and do change. Good luck to both teams, should be a great opening weekend matchup!
