Johnstown City League Baseball

Johnstown Colt League kicks off its season tonight with a pair of games. They will be using the Derby St. field at Roxbury and the Ferndale field with the AAABA field at Roxbury strictly for AAABA.
The Colt League should be competitive with a number of solid teams. Any comments on teams or players?
As for the Pony League, which has been in full swing for 2 or so weeks now, it looks like its Josh Day's Boilers again, as the heavy favorites.

Indeed it does seem as though the Colt league will be very competitive this year. With no teams now undefeated it will be a very interesting season to see who wins first place. Any suggestions on who you guys think will take it? Also who are some of the players to be watching for in this league?

Honestly i have to go with Delweld winning the championship this year. They have a decent pitching staff, and when they use their bats they are a good hitting team. On the other hand, RPBS was supposed to have a lights-out pitching satff but they haven't been as strong as i expected. I think we will see the first three games of the Championship series go to Delweld. Well their are really no standout players this year, although some decent ones. Can anybody think of some good players, either 15 or 16?

I agree that Delweld has a nice team but so does RPBS. I can't see either team sweeping the other three in a row in the championship series. While Breakers, Kimballs and Johnstown Construction fight for the two other playoff spots, I don't see either one of them winning a best of three with either Delweld or RPBS.
Delweld has had RPBS number so far this year, up 2-1 head to head in what were all relatively close games. They play tonight with 1st place on the line.
Both teams play smart and hard and have some good quality players, with memebers of those two teams making up a large portion of the Keystone Games squad. Should be a good game tonight and hopefully a good championship series, if they both win their first rounder.

Ahh. It was a good game from what I saw. I was able to catch the last three innings of it and from what I saw it looked like some good baseball. Delweld did win it in the end with doubles from both Russell Gray, and Bobby Helman, then an intentional walk to give bases loaded with one out. Then the kid (sorry I dont know this ones name) hit one over the left fielders head who was playing in to prevent the run from scoring to win it. Delweld apparently has that regular season series now 3-1. Should definately be a good Championship game so long as both teams make it.

Was another close game with both teams making some really nice plays and also some really bad ones. Looks like Delweld will play Johnstown Construction in the first round, best of 3, I think, and Roberts will play Breakers.
Look for both top seeds to make it through, but you never know. Delweld seems to have Robert's number but all the games have been relatively close. Still alot of baseball to go.
