It doesn't have to be final and true (as I know TAE makes some fun rankings in season), but try to come up with a Top 10 and post it. I often buy magazines and stuff to see this but I think this could be fun.

I will post mine shortly after I look at some things.

1. Oklahoma- Bomar has experience and Peterson is the best back in the nation. I think their defense is better than many in the country as well. Also..their schedule isn't the toughest although they go to Texas (at Dallas), Texas A&M, and Oregon. I also say #1 for them because I think it will be easier for a team to go through the B12 unscathed then it will be for teams in the ACC, B10, or SEC. This stinks, but it is the way since there is no playoff system.

2. WVU- Lots of experience and talent along with playing in the BE. They are at Louisville and Pitt so a loss isn't out of the question. I could also see them slippng against Maryland. No conference title game also means 1 less shot at getting a loss from someone. If they lose a game at all, they are 9th or 10th. I think they can win them all so they're here for me.

3. USC- Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett. You think these guys won't make things easy for a QB? You think these guys won't help the run game because of their ability to stretch the field? You think USC is in the PAC 10 where defense isn't a priority? Well they'll most likely have the best defense and offense in a conference that always has shootouts. I'll take USC in a shootout. Their schedule is nice too as they have ND, Cal, Nebraska, and Oregon at home. The road doesn't look too tough. I'm now almost reconsidering them to #1.

4. Ohio State- They get Mich and PSU at home. They go to Texas. Their defense lost a lot, but c'mon it is OSU. Their offense will be stellar. I think they beat Texas, but lose 1 game to Mich, PSU, or Iowa. They may not be behind USC in the final standings because I can see both with 1 loss each and OSU might be ahead of them.

5. Auburn- Why? I want an SEC team in this spot and I like their schedule the best. They get LSU, Florida, and Geogria at home. They also have Kenny and David Irons. I think their experience at QB, RB, and OL is a strength. They also return a ton in the secondary and LB positions.

6. Notre Dame- They are media darlings with a Heisman hopeful at QB. I don't think they are as good as many have them at #1, but they will be solid. I could see losses in the following spots: @ Georgia Tech week 1- hey, this is the opener and it is on the road with an 8 PM start. They have Reggie Ball and Calvin Johnson along with an experienced OL. Aside from their big losses to VT and Utah this team was close with everyone. As a PSU fan I'm not sure I want to see it so the hype is huge for the PSU game, but I have it at 35% right now that GT beats them week 1. I could also see them losing to PSU and Mich as well as USC. I think they end up with 2 losses heading to their bowl game.

7. Utah- What? They are my non BCS conference team to include. They have talent at QB and WR. They return some starters on the OL, and their defense will be the best in the MWC. A win against UCLA in the opener would be HUGE. They also get Boise, Colorado State, and TCU at home.

8. Florida State- 2 losses. They will have an oustanding defense and a solid offense. FSU has tons of speed on defense which will put them as possibly the best defense in the nation in my mind. They also return guys on the OL. Week 1 at Miami determines a ton. If they win that one, they can be a top 5 team. They end with Florida and they have a conference championship game. Clemson will also field their best team in a long time.

9. Michigan- Chad Henne, Mike Hart, Steve Breaston, Mario Manningham... The offense line injuries last year will help them this year as guys got experience before they were maybe supposed to. The only question mark games for them in my mind as ND, PSU, and OSU...but they were unlucky to get them ALL on the road. I think the night game at PSU is going to be a loss for them. I think they split against OSU and ND. They finish with 2 losses.

10. Arkansas- I included them just as a sleeper team. I think they return a lot of talent on both offense and defense with lots of experience there as well. McFadden is a real good one at RB. Will Mustain play at QB is a question in my mind... if he does, I'm not sure if it hurts or helps. I'm thinking they play the experience for a while then we'll see. Their OL has lots of big 300+ pounders with experience. Last year they were 12th in the nation in rushing. They can control the ball and the tempo. They also have teh most talent in years at WR. This team MAY beat USC in week 1 as they come to Arkansas. I also like the rest of their schedule as they have Bama, Tenn, and LSU at home. I'll say they have two losses and shock some people.

I didn't include Florida or LSU because I hate their schedules... I should have probably put Georgia somewhere in here because I like how their's pans out for them a lot. They just have a lot of new talent.

I think PSU could flip flop with Mich. Road games at OSU, ND, Wisky, and Purdue are scary. I don't think they do what they did last year. I don't see them losing more than 3 and I don't see them losing less than 1.

Texas... I think they could lost to OSU, Oklahoma, @ Nebraska, @ Texas Tech. I think they will lose 2 games and they will finish ahead of teams I had on here such as Arkansas and Utah but it isn't fun saying what everyone else says. Nebraska is improved and going there will be tough. I think they split OSU and Okie.

okay here's my preseason top 10...


1. Ohio State- they're playing in the always tough big ten... there's some questions about the returning defense but that offense is going to be something even with the loss of santonio holmes...

2. West Virginia- one of the big questions about them is if pat white can pass? but with heisman dark horse steve slaton running the ball, they should be in good shape...

3. Oklahoma- i could easily put them at number 2... big question here is if adrian peterson can stay healthy... if he can, you could be seeing peterson holding up the heisman at the end of the season...

4. USC- they got two all-americans at receiver with dwayne jarrett and steve smith and a future one in sophomore patrick turner, who carroll says could be better than jarrett and mike williams... the linebackers for the team are one of the best trios in the country and if you have some doubts about the qb situation, remember that both booty and sanchez were the top high school quarterback coming out...

5. Clemson- this is a sleeper pick... they have acc freshman of the year james davis and incoming freshman c.j. spiller at tailback, kelly and stuckey and receiver, and new qb will proctor (who's a better fit for their system) they should have no problems on offense...

6. Notre Dame- brady quinn is the best quarterback in the country and with walker at tailback and samardzija at receiver, they'll be in good shape to score points... but the only defensive player worth noting for the fighting irish is tom zbowski...

7. Auburn- tough schedule but with kenny irons and brandon cox, they'll be back in a new years day bowl...

8. Michigan- again another tough schedule, but if they can get back on track, unlike last year, it should be another contending year for the wolverines...

9. TCU- yeah, it's the horned frogs... they have a good quarterback in ballard and they also have three running backs that are capable of rushing for over a thousand yards in robert merrill, aaron brown, and lonta hobbs...

10. California- with marshawn lynch and an experienced defense, they should have a good year... the problem with them is that they need nate longshore, joe ayoob, or steve levy to step up at quarterback...

three teams that i think could lurk in the top 10 are texas, florida state, and penn state... texas would be a definite number 1 if they had vince young... florida state lost some defensive players but weatherford has a year of experience under his belt.... and penn state should still be good this year, maybe not like last year, but who thought at the beginning of the season that they would be big ten champs?

yeah I know... I think you are going to go with Texas since neither had them in the Top 10. I'm sure they'll finish there, but I wanted to be a little creative and fun with mine.
