Now that week 1 has come and gone, what are some thoughts on the upcoming season?

Would it not suck to be a Raiders and Packers fan right now? Its not even week 2 and these two teams are clearly the worst in the NFL. The Texans, Jets, 49ers, Titans, and Lions will most likely all have bad seasons, but at least there is something or someone to root for. I don't know if I should laugh or feel bad for these two teams. The Raiders are wasting Randy Moss's talent and the Off and Def lines are just horrible. I really thought if Moss had 3 more productive years he would be a Hall Of Famer for sure, but with this team it will be 0 productive years and maybe no HOF.

The AFC North looks really competitive this year with 3 out of 4 teams having impressive wins. The Bengals and Ravens both look very scary at this point, but the Steelers are still the most complete team in the division. Getting a win without Big Ben is huge and the defense looks outstanding. Ike Taylor had a shaky game with some missed tackles, but he should improve. My only complaint is that they took Willie Parker out when they were on the goal line. Why not see if he can pound the ball in for a touch down, especially after he ran hard getting you there? The Colts should still cruise in their division despite the impressive win by Jacksonville. Jacksonville could have easily been blown out by the Cowboys had they not missed some golden opportunities in the first half. Colts run D looks shaky though. If the Dolphins or Bills can't beat the Patriots in the AFC East this year, both those teams really stink. I really can't fathom how the Patriots will win with all the personel they lost this off season. One of those two teams should overtake the Patriots. I thought the AFC West would be the most competitive, but they did not impress thus far. Broncos had a horrible loss and Cutler chants are starting to be heard. KC can't stop the run and with Green hurt and a new O-line, their offense should sputter. I love AFC football by the way.

Not to much thought on the NFC. Carolina is proofing to be a one man team. The last two games they played have shown that if Steve Smith is hurt or is not getting the ball, they will struggle. TO is a monster and should be thrown at 10 times each game. Love him or hate him, he is unreal. I love seeing the Redskins lose. Enjoy your free agent busts Dan Snyder. Only one week though, so things will most likely change. Enjoy week 2.

Good breakdown WX. I also agree with the teams you labeled 'worst' in the league. I'm in two small last man standing polls & have done pretty well since joining by initially eliminating the worst teams in the league from being a possible selection.

And like you (perhaps it's the Steeler following) I like/watch more AFC teams.

It does suck to be a Packer fan right now. This once proud franchise has disintegrated into the laughing stock of the league. No direction from the front office: do they want to build the O first or the D. Do they want Favre to stay or go. Their draft picks have been mediocre at best and when they do have someone step up, they don't resign them.
I thought 4-12 was bad last year. It could be even worse this year. At least we'll get a high draft pick: well, that hasn't worked out too well either.
Time to become a Steeler fan?? They at least signed Davenport. The Pack went out and signed the troubled Koren Robinson.

I'm not so much a Packers fan as I am a Favre fan. To me it looks like the new GM wants Favre gone so bad that he's brought in a pathetic coach. I mean San Fran's offensive coordinator? What does that say?

Moss should still put up 1,000 yards this year with his bad offense. Right now he's on pace for about 80 after one game. It's sad for me to watch a guy with this much talent not be able to get the ball because the quarterback doesn't have enough time to get the throw off, but that's how it goes. One things for sure, it can only go up after last week.

It also doesn't help that your O-Coordinator was of late running a bed and breakfest in Idaho. This coaching staff isn't only out of their league, but out of this era. I mean who hires Art Shell as a head coach in this day and age. The team is just in bad shape. It is only week one though and some teams aren't as bad as they seem or as good. It can go up for them, but playing against the Ravens D won't be pretty.

I know I see another shut out again this week. They just aren't a good team. It's been real poor management lately other than the addition of Moss. They passed up on Leinart, which made no sense to me. They drafted Huff, whom is a good player, but doesn't have as much upside as Leinart. This is coming from a Texas fan, too. They just can't get it right. Moss has became a leader on the team, and that still hasn't helped. They might as well try and go 0-16 and assure themselves of a good pick unless they screw it up like the Texans, which is definitely possible.

Isn't the words "Moss" and "leader" an oxymoron?

Yes, it currently sucks to be a Packer fan, BUT it was great to be one in the 90s. We'll be back again, don't you worry about that.
