Saw Manheim Township, lead by Pat Bostick, take on Reading High School over the weekend. I have mixed reviews about Bostick's performance, being that it wasn't the aerial assault I expected and wanted to see. None the less, it was a solid performance by Bostick and it was alittle hard to show his skills when Manheim's RB is running for over 200 yards and 5 TDs. I thought he showed alot of poise and he seemed like a natural leader. You really can't teach those and my first impression shows that he possess them. He doesn't look like he has great atheticism, but his arm is pretty impressive for a 18 year old. It was also a very entertaining game. Reading lead 28-3 at one point, and ended up losing by almost 20 points. Momentum is a powerful thing when you have it.

On a side note, Reading High School arguable has some of the best talent in the state. To bad it is over shadowed by having the worst attitude and disipline I have ever seen out of a high school team. This team could be a real juggarnaut. They looked really impressive in the beginning, but when they started losing momentum they lost their heads and became a bunch of thugs, who could have cared less. Its a shame.

Pat Bostick has put up unreal numbers the past 2 seasons with very little talent around him and should be an instant starter on the Panthers then add in some big time players........He could be an all time great

A good friend of mine is a PIAA football official from Ephrata, PA. He has had a few of Bostick's games this year and last. He said that Bostick can make all the throws necessary to be a great QB.

He also said that he wasn't the most athletic kid as far as quickness and speed go, but has great pocket awareness and footwork.

A mutual friend of ours asked him to compare him to another QB from somewhere in the Panther's history. He compared him to Alex Van Pelt.

Van Pelt was an excellent college QB. If Bostick is as good or better, then he should have a great career at Pitt.

and yeah he was telling me the same thing about Bostick......he should be able to beat out Billy Stull for the #1 Spot especially since hes graduating early from Manheim...

From what I saw of Bostick, he looks like the real deal. I'm not so sure though that he'll beat Stull out as you predict. I think Stull is pretty good, and he clearly has the advantage by knowing the offense more than Bostick. I expect Stull to take over next season, and do fine.

To make the 2007-08 QB battle more interesting, Bostick will be enrolling at Pitt in January so he can go through Spring practice. That should allow him to somewhat catch up with Stull.

Hopefully these two can soften the blow from the loss of Palko.

to make things even MORE intresting Pitt plays Bowling Green and Grambling the first 2 games of the year at home so we have the advantage of checkin out both in actual game situations before the rough road schedule(UVA MSU rutgers WVU and Louisville)

Reading was 0-10 last season and they are horrible again this year.

That doesn't change the fact that they have a boat load of talent on that football team. Like I said, it is a shame that its all over shadowed by having the worst attitude and disipline I have ever seen out of a high school team. They were killing a pretty good Manheim Township team 28-3 at one point in that game and it wasn't a fluke. They have some spectacular atheletes, but that can only take teams so far and in Readings case it doesn't take them too far at all.

Doen't look like much talent to me. Cedar Crest is the worst team in the league so they should win, Hempfield should beat them and Wilson should hammer them.
