Congrats J.J. Grace on getting Male Athlete of the Week in the Chambersburg Public Opinion. Usually Franklin County looks down on Fulton County, but every once and awhile someone from our neck of the woods gets honored. Thanks Public Opinion.
Bedford Gazette: Where's your love? I've always wondered, since you're just as close, why we don't get coverage unless we play a Bedford team?
Fulton County News: You need greater coverage of sports. You're weekly paper is pathetic.
Just food for thought.
BleacherCoaches: Thanks for the opportunity to speak out. I enjoy this site very much.

No offense tribeleader, but do you ever see a news article about a team OUTSIDE of BEDFORD county in the BEDFORD Gazette? Unless its for state playoffs or some remarkable game/feat whatever, then 99% of the time the BEDFORD Gazette will cover BEDFORD county. It ain't rocket science.

I understand your argument, Gunner. But, could you imagine only getting a Bedford Gazette once a week where the sports section consists of one sentence written about each of the 10 or so games of the previous week? I have read the Bedford Gazette numerous times, and I think the write ups are usually quite good. I guess I should rephrase my original topic.
I wish Fulton County had a newspaper with a sports section that is worth anything. And, thank you BleacherCoaches for being a Hub for Sideling Hill League, LHAC, and WestPac.

Take some initiative and start a paper, go to the county seat and start talking to some of the council men, go out and get the opinion of the people on whether they would like a fulton paper or not. Eventualy if you get enough people behind your cause then you get the results you want.
Or you could just sit around and wait for someone else to do it.

How many newspapers have you started, gunner?
It's not that Fulton County does not have a newspaper. The newspaper is weekly and shows no emphasis on sports, except when we (So. Fulton) win the district title, which has been 3 out of the past four years. I guess that's enough sports ecstasy for me.

The PO seems to be making a good effort to cover Fulton County schools this year so far. Does it usually last or do they lose interest as the season progresses? I wonder if the Gazette would at least keep a box score when the Fulton County teams play each other if it's called in.

Good point. The games in the P.O. are called in, but they do a good job of making it into a mini write-up. As far as bias is concerned I was particularly talking about Athlete of the Week. They do try to give us props in their Weekly Honor Roll which lists players who had good individual performances throughout the week. I know last year during playoffs they did a good job of covering both District 3 and District 5 games. I remember whenever Souther Fulton played Shanksville in the Championship game they even had a point spread and everything. It was pretty neat.
Post Script I suppose if we called in a game to Bedford Gazette, they would post it. I guess I'll just pick up a Gazette when we play Tussey, Everett, Ridge, etc.

I've never started a paper becuase I've never complained about lack of coverage.
