Figure this one out. Tom O'Brien leaves Boston College, who is basically an ACC powerhouse, to go coach at NC State, a conference rival, where the grass can't possibly be much greener. Tom O'Brien turned down the Notre Dame job, and yet he takes the NC State one? Is the money really worth it? I'm talking both parties, here.

I would not be surprised if this was a deal where BC is about to get in some kind of recruiting trouble so he got out. Other than that I am clueless with this decision.

ESPN has a nice article about this. Coach O'Brien is 11th out of 12 ACC coaches salary wise. He is not happy about the fan support and has to fight with the pro teams getting all the attention. If get the chance read the espn article as it brings up some good points. I was wondering why he left also. After reading the article might not be a bad move.

Man I got to agree with TAE here...I think he should have been the 12th lowest pd. coach in ACC. Now keeping in mind that recruiting has been going well in recent yrs for BC, Vman put his on crack....errrr crack research staff members on this one, knowing that this joker has not done squat. What did they discover??

Won/Loss Record versus teams that were ranked in the AP Top 25 when BC played them during the season:

8-21 27.6 % Overall

5-19 20.8% in Conference.

1997: 0-2 Losses: Syr., VT
1998: 0-4 Losses: Miami, Syr., ND, VT
1999: 0-2 Losses: Miami, VT
2000: 0-3 Losses: VT, ND, Miami
2001: 1-3 Wins: Georgia. Losses: VT, Miami and Syr.
2002: 1-2 Wins: ND. Losses: Miami, VT
2003: 1-2 Wins VT. Losses: Miami, Pitt
2004: 2-0 Wins: ND and WVU
2005: 0-2 Losses: Florida State and VT
2006: 3-1 Losses: Wake Forest Wins: Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland
