Did anyone happen to catch the 35 point lead Minnesota had on Michigan, AT HOME, in about 2004? UM came back in the second half and won the game. Did anyone happen to catch the multiple seasons in Minneapolis where the Gophers were about 6-0 and then 6-6? How about the fact that the Minnesota coaching staff routinely makes poor decisions, cost their team the Penn State win this year, as well as the bowl game, where they actually gave up the biggest lead in bowl history and lost the game?

***EDIT, NEED TO ADD THIS, TOO*** Did anyone happen to see the fact that Minnesota only beat North Dakota State this season, AT HOME, on a blocked FG as time expired?

Did anyone happen to see any of that? Glen Mason and his staff are the worst staff in BCS football!

Mark May, longtime bonehead and former Pitt player, was very critical of Minnesota's firing of Glen Mason. He says that Minnesota needs to realize that they are not going to beat the top teams in the Big Ten, and that they should be happy with 7-5 seasons. Wrap your head around this logic. So basically, with millions of dollars at stake, Minnesota should just be glad that they win 7 a season, and should just accept their lot in life as a lower-tier Big Ten team. Well, good thing 95% of the decent teams in America do not subscribe to this logic, or else they would all still be 0-11 every year. Good thing Illinois and Miami and Florida State and Rutgers and Kansas State do not subscribe to this strange stance on college football. I would like to know how this makes the least bit of sense. Hasn't Terry Hoeppner already done a nice job at Indiana? Hasn't Ron Zook already started building a powerhouse in Champlain, where he just signed another 5-star recruit last week, and was within an onsides kick of beating Ohio State? Hasn't Kirk Ferentz put Iowa on the national map? We are talking about one of the most prestigious conferences in the whole league, here. There are people who will take the Minnesota job, especially lower-conference coaches like JD Brookhart maybe, who can probably do well at a bigger school. Minnesota isn't THAT bad, first of all, they already win 7 games a year, not 1 or 2. Minnesota also is building a new stadium as we speak. What the hell is Mark May even thinking here?

Would Mason still be coaching if they would have beat Texas Tech? I think so. The AD made an emotional decision based on how ONE bowl game went. Was there any talk of Mason being in trouble before the bowl season? I didn't hear it. Now Minnesota has to pay big bucks to payoff Mason's contract, at the same time they are paying off their recently fired men's basketball coach, while at the same time they are building a new football stadium. I say FIRE the AD!!! I thought MONEY was everything in the Big Ten. Minnesota is throwing it away on spur of the moment decisions by the AD. And what does this quick firing do for Minnesota recruiting which is just ONE month for LOI day? Maybe Mark May knows what he's talking about.

Well, Moldy, you are all wrong on this one. Mason's job has been in jeopardy for years, as well it should have been. And as for the basketball job? Bobby Knight is apparently number one on the list.

Then what kind of AD let's Mason LINGER on for years? And who's the B-ball coach now???? You fire your head coach in November and what, have an interim coach til March Madness? The guy's got to go.
