I know I just started watching the stuff when my buddies got UFC 66, but I love it already. Anyone else watch this stuff. We need some discussion on this here. Maybe some links to the better fights you've seen. there are lots on Google video for free. I saw one that was a Pride fight where the two guys just punched each other like crazy from the bell for a good while.
I'd like to think this thread will be pretty popular, we'll see....

I love the UFC! I have been getting the PPV's for the past year or so. Spike TV also has alot of UFC stuff going on. For people that haven't watched much of it, it's not what you would prob. expect. These are great athletes and its not a bunch of thugs like boxing seems to have nowadays. There are lots of guys that were college wrestling all-americans and lots of martial arts guys. This is def. one of the fastest growing sports in the world right now.

I have been interested in mma, ufc. since Shamrock, And Royce Gracie were in their prime. I love it, and I never miss an pay per view, and I will be watching ultimate fight night live on spike tonight. I also train a little jui jitsu and kickboxing, It's great because I may never put on football pads again but you can always participate in martial arts to get that "rush" and physical contact.

Shamrock would beat every fighter he met, if he wasnt older than dirt.

Last night's event on Spike.... That kick from Evans to Salmon was disgusting. It was a B10 battle with Evans being a former Spartan and Salmon being a former Buckeye. In the 2nd round Evans kicked Salmon in the side of the head. Salmon went instantly lifeless, sort of curled, had his eyes roll back and just laid there. It was unbelievable. I guess he laid there for like 7 minutes unconscious in the ring. From things I read this morning though, it looks like he may end up being ok.
The sport has picked up steam because people realize it is much safer than it used to be. As soon as you can't defend yourself the match is stopped. It probably does about as much or less harm than boxing with its repeated shots to the head which can be taken more and more due to the thicker gloves. Anyway...good stuff last night, except the Herring who looked terrible.

There has NEVER been a death at a sanctioned mma event ever, no other contact sport can say that, with that being said Rashad Evans high kick on Salmon was brutal and hard to watch.

UFC 67 this weekend...
Cro Cop
Rampage Jackson
Silva
Lutter
I don't know if there will be any really great matchups because the favorites are all pretty heavy favorites.
