u have to look at it like this a school as the size of bedford and ridge tend to have more guys come out for track than say a school like tussy or mcconnellsburg. which mostly means schools with more people can have some of them just focus on 2 events and the people from the litle schools need the 'studs' to focus on 4 events thats how i look on to bout the size factor

u obviously have no idea about bedford then, true we do have a fair share of members on the team. BUT almost all of them participate in 4 events, and some do up to 6 or 7 events a season, they just rotate 4 of them each meet, depending on where we need their strengths. with the exception of a few polevaulters, distance guys, and throwers (most of which do all 3 throws), every person on the bedford team does a minimum of 3 events

It is not a theory, it's a fact. You can verify this by simply looking up the results and not by going what you have "noticed". Small schools do get some fantastic athletes who can and do compete well with athletes from bigger schools. However, bigger schools get better athletes more often and have much better depth.Gunner18 wrote:being a statman ive noticed that more times than not, the AA state champ will have a faster time, higher height, or farther distance than the AA state champ. so the whole theory about size matters, is just that, a theory!
Over the last 5 years in comparing boys AAA vs. AA winners at states:
AAA 74 events, AA 14 events, 2 ties. Those are the facts. Size may not be everything, but it does help a lot!

the coaches dont "draft" those guys...they are usually the good atheletes that dont get to play baseball because or "the name game" so they come out for a sport where nobody sits the benchTrack Stat Hesse wrote:but the true question is why does the track team need to draft baseball players to the track meets....

The Flyers are just like the Titanic. They both look good until they hit the ice

the name game??? sounds like Walter is sour about a coaching staff.
Baseball players that run track also either: 1.... use it to develop their speed or quickness because they plan on furthering their athletics in college. or...2....they could benefit a relay team or other event to help the track team out also. They usually are some of the better athletes in the school.

track classification for 2003 district 6
altoona 1018
state college 969
hollidaysburg 509
indian valley 422
johnstown 370
bedford 236 by the way.
The faster times in AA opposed to AAA would not be from the AA schools being private schools would they. For example Milton Hershey.......
I do not think track is emphasized at J-town.
