Coaching Changes - Neshannock Football and Ellwood City Hoops.........
3/11/2007 -

Neshannock High School has hired a head football coach as Pat Cuba was named to replace Rob Nogay this past week. Cuba has been away from the sidelines the past two seasons, after coaching the defensive backs at Westminster College for 14 years. Cuba also served as an assistant at Slippery Rock University for four seasons.

The position was opened when Rob Nogay was asked to resign in November. Cuba does have high school head coaching experience, but not in football, having served as the head basketball coach at Laurel, where he is an elementary school teacher.

Neshannock is also looking for an athletic director after the school board accepted the resignation of Gary Weimer. Weimer served one year on the job, following the retirement of long-time AD Bob Bleggi.

In other Lawrence County coaching news, Ellwood City has made several moves during the early off-season as boys basketball coach Rev. Rod Smith resigned after three years. Smith is the pastor of Chippewa United Methodist Church, and will oversee construction of a new church building. Girls basketball coach Joe Ricciuti also resigned, he was replaced by assistant coach Bill Gottuso, who was given a three-year contract.
