With the Heisman Trophy being presented next weekend the narrowing of the field is coming to an end. Jason White had a great season and had to be a frontrunner going into OK's game against Kansas State but the Sooners lost and White had a poor showing. Larry Fitzgerald had a stellar year but when he was seen by all of the voters against Miami only had 26 yards receiving. In my opinion, though, he was still the best and most dominating player throughout the entire season. Will the fact that Larry was only on an 8-4 team dash his hopes for the Heisman? Obviously Eli Manning and Chris Perry had great seasons, but will Matt Leinart's 5 TD performance in the PAC-10 title game boost his chances at becoming a finalist for the coveted Heisman? I think it should, but don't think either Perry, Manning, or Leinart will get the trophy. When it's all said and done I believe and hope that Larry Fitzgerald takes home the gold. In my mind he's the most deserving of the group. What are some of your thoughts?

Larry Fitgerald is by far the best college athlete I've seen this year and I think Larry should and will end up with the heisman.

I believe and hope Fitzgerald wins the Heisman. But don't forget about Williams from USC, he also had an amazing year at wideout.

Ryan Wilke, junior running back for the Mud Dogs of South-Central Louisiana State University Tech A&M has it locked up. He had a solid year. It will truely irk me if he doesn't get it...might even send me on a semi-rant. He was utterly magnificant.

I think the person who had the best game in front of a national audience was Darren Sproles, RB K. State. He finished the year w/ over 1900 yards rushing. He completely tore up the best D in the Big 12 championship game. He deserves to be a finalist. I'd say White and Fitzgerald are the front runners but it looks wide open still.

Bill Snyder (Kansas State's coach) told the guy trying to interview him after the OK game that the voters shouldn't overlook Sproles. If the voters were watching and listened to him he may have a chance and becoming a finalist.

bison1, this Wilke guy is a junior. I could have sworn that he was a freshman sensation. It's good to see that other people are giving him looks, he had a simply stellar season. I too will go on a semi-rant, maybe even a rant, if he doesn't win it.

There are some good unknowns, but Whyte, Fitzgerald, or Manning are going to get it.

Sproles is leading major D-1a teams in rushing and has 400 more yards than Perry of Michigan and is getting no pub. It's sad really.

I agree, the excellent players that emerge don't really get a look without all the hype.
