PITT RECEIVES 3 VERBAL COMMITMENTS
What a day for the Pitt Panthers! They’ve received 3 more verbal commitments including 5-star recruit Shayne Hale.
The verbal commitments continue to come for Dave Wannstedt and Pitt. Pittsburgh Sports Insider has learned that the Panthers have received 3 more verbal commitments. The biggest one will come from Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale. We’ve been told that Hale has informed Wannstedt that he’ll publicly give a verbal tomorrow to Pitt at the U.S, Army All-American Bowl.
Last week, Hale was named to USA Today’s 1st team defense. Hale is rated a 5-star recruit and is expected to make an immediate impact to Pitt’s defense next season. Wannstedt has now received 3 major, national commitments (Hale, Jonathan Baldwin and Lucas Nix)
The Panthers have also received a commitment from Jarred Holley, the 9th rated prospect in the state of PA. Holley will play tomorrow in the Under Armour/EPSN All-America game. Holley, who is a 4-star cornerback, chose the Panthers over Virginia and Iowa. Holley also received offers from Michigan, Penn, State, Florida, Georgia Tech and Stanford. The 5-9, 170 pound Holley is No. 15 ranked corner back in the country by Scout.com.
Finally, Mike Cruz wants to be a Panther again. The 6-4, 255 pound tight end from Johnstown has once again given Pitt a verbal commitment. He previously committed to Pitt in April of 2007 but reopened his recruitment after his parents had concerns about their son living in the city. And much to the chagrin of resident bleachercoaches antediluvian aka La Molda, Pitt welcomed Mike with open arms adding to El Mildew's vexation.

Since decommiting to Pitt, Cruz received more than 20 offers including ones from Clemson, West Virginia, Florida State, Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, Forest Hills and Virginia. Cruz is ranked the No. 19 prospect in the state by Rivals.com.
