We all know about how PSU gets 2-3 star players and they end up being pretty solid. For all the "underachieving" there is a good amount of "overachieving", and they do seem to find players who are relative diamonds in the recruiting rough. I predict the next one to be Michael Mauti, who doesn't get any love on Rivals or Scout, but was still picked for the Army All-American Game, and not only that, was selected overall team MVP.

I noticed something pretty interesting about the Rutgers recruiting over the past few seasons. Take a look at this, here are the Rutgers players we have heard of.

Is there a better fit out there for Penn State?

I love those rankings as much as the next guy and the more guys you get with great talent...the better because some will pan out.

I just look at recent past and see this:
Morelli, A. Scott, Logan-El... all guys that were ranked as 4-5*'s recently...all guys who were big let downs.

T. Hunt, Poz, S. Lee, D. Butler...all guys that were 3 or lower


I'd still love to see more and more 4-5* guys...that is what USC, OSU, and LSU have gotten. The more you have, the more that pan out. At this point, a lot of our big names have been letdowns.

Whatever happened to the Minemyer kid from BC who ended up at Rutgers?

He is on the Rivals page as a 3-star TE. I'm not sure if he gets any time yet.
