It is strange with two crashes so close together.

Flying in non-US has been quite an experience for myself.
2 or 3 landings where everyone applauded (including my first flight ever). And then there was the time you could hear the rooster crowing in the luggage area. And the time we took off with the fire crew along the runway. And the fire crew waiting at the other airport when we arrived. What fun times! Now I only fly American wherever possible. But the only other choice is the bus, which is even more dangerous. No wonder I hate flying.

There's a really scary phenomena called gravity. It's not the descent; it's that sudden stop against the earth I have a problem with. Imagine a 6 ft. tall human being slips going down a normal flight of stairs. He/ she may be hurt enough to break bones, maybe not if they're lucky. Now take that same 6 ft. human up to say 35,000 feet and a descending speed of , what is terminal velocity again: 88 ft/ sec. squared? That's going to hurt a bit. I like John Madden more and more.

I got to do that at an encampment with my CAP flight. Got to repel out of a Huey too.
