China is not a global superpower. They have no Navy or Air force to speak of. They are a regional power militarily in Asia and that's it. If you want to see how China would do in a war with us read Tom Clancy's "The Bear and the Dragon". That should sum it up for you!

Although I am a fan of Tom Clancy, books and movies, and the fact he has a lot of good ideas for stories, the fact remains they are just that, FICTION. China HAS nukes and wouldn't hesitate to use them, if they thought it was in their best interest. Their greatest asset IS their huge population base. Put a knife in each of their hands and tell them to attack anyone. Many will be cut down by guns, but sooner or later, when the bullets run out, the rest are still coming at you with those knives.

Sorry LP been extremely busy this summer and had PC trouble.

Tom Clancy does write fiction and also non-fiction books. The guy is so intelligent that the CIA uses him at times for analysis. Fiction can become reality.... in "Debt of Honor" Clancy's climax had a jet crashing into the US Capitol. Do you really think that Bin-Laden and his bunch were that original?

China won't use nukes against us that would be suicide and as I said earlier China would be utterly destroyed in a convential war against the West. Their so terrified of the West they have let Tiawan thumb their nose them for 60 years!

400 million screaming chinese armed with knives? I trembling... they found out in Korea at Chosin that quantity doesn't win against quality!

South- I'm not doubting what you said, just check those population figures again. I think you'll find considerably more than 400 million.....try in the Billions. A conventional war would be bloody and costly, in dollars, and manpower, but if China thought it could take us out by a trade-off of population, say 200 million for 200 million, then they would still have overwhelming superiority in numbers left.

i want everyone to put yourself in the shoes of the chinese government....would you attack the country that you export more goods too than ANY other country in the world? thatd be like dunkin donuts throwing rocks at fat people, its economic suicide

Try looking at this from another angle. Sure, China exports more "stuff" to us than any other country. But if they as a nation are bent on world conquest, once they have dominated everyone else, including "us", they control everything. The conquered will have to crawl to them to survive. They will hold all the cards.

I tend to disagree there south. I would not say they are armed with just knives. China is a very populous country with a very strong army and a very wealthy army. I know they are poor but that is because of the overwelming population. The health and wealth of the common person does not reflect on china's military.

I only wanted to show that our 'military superiority" could be overcome just by sheer numbers, in much the same way as the Afghan natives stopped the Soviet armored divisions years ago, with little more than RPG's and hand grenades.
