Eight thousand five hundred fifty five

Post by El-Moldo »

Saturday was a beautiful day wasn't it? Great football weather. How could you beat it? Well, according to today's Tribune, the attendance at Beaver Stadium for the Cincinnati game was "another low turnout of 98,727". Now according to the PSU athletic website, Beaver stadium holds 107,282. That means there were 8,555 empty seats on Saturday. Of course, someone is going to respond to this by saying that Pitt should be so lucky to have that many at their games, but the fact remains that there were ALMOST 10,000 empty seats at Beaver Stadium to see Penn State play football. Why? Well, a noon start is a little early for some folks. And there are alot of arts and craft shows on the weekends in the fall. Even some fireman's and community picnics here and there. The university probably doesn't care though, because most of those seats were probably sold. Show me the money. That's all that counts.

1. It was Cincinnati.

2. Team has not been playing well.

3. There are too many seats in Beaver Stadium.

Like I said, when it hits 65,000 I'll start worrying. But they over-reacted with the new additions.

But I thought it was the place to be, no matter who they were playing and how they were playing. You know, with the in-crowd. Maybe the "atmosphere" has changed. Guess people found out that they can booze it up at home in front of the TV, and save that gas money to buy...well...more booze.

Sellout? Nope, but they have been poor lately and ticket sales dropped off. That number would have still been a sellout before the recent addition, BUT the fact remains that the team has been poor recently and folks aren't paying for that product. 98,000. There are 100 teams in 1A that would take that.

No some places have other traditions and have crazier and wild crowds that don't have a 100,000+ fans!

Are we now talking about attendance at PSU games? What has this have to do with football?
Why?

I'm shocked that you Nit fans don't wanna talk about attendance and how it positively affects wins and losses! 98,727 fans should mean a national championsip every year!

You're 28-34 in your last 62 games. Just think how good you'd be if you packed 110,000 into the big gray erector set every home game!
