9th Circuit at it again

Post by LionPride »

Well children, according to the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals, you are now violating some kid, somewhere in America, his constitional rights because you are reciting our nation's pledge.

This is why we need strict constitionalists on the bench. This is why I dislike liberals. This is going too far. This is legislating from the bench - again.

As you know, I'm one of the few admitted liberals here. However, I think they should keep "Under God" in the pledge. On the other hand, I don't think it dooms us as a nation if it is taken out. I don't believe it will make us any less if it's missing.

The Pledge was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a Baptist minister. He obviously did not include "under God" in the original version. It was added in 1954. Between 1892 and 1954, the US did quite alright (winning 2 world wars and growing into the world superpower) . Apparently God did not hold it against us as nation. God does not judge nations, He judges people.

With that said, I see no way the Supreme Court will take it out. The court will obviously be "less liberal" now. If it wasn't overturned before, it won't be overturned now.

Regardless of what the issue at hand is I have trouble with one unelected judge with the power to cicumvent our elected legislature. At least on the supreme court there are 9 unelected judges presiding over cases. The judical branch of gov't has over the last generation has overstepped their authority.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag,
of the United States of America
and to the Republic, for which it stands
one Nation, under God
indevisable, with liberty, and justice for all.

Exactly the point!

If our elected leaders added this in 1954, obviously they felt it was important enough to put it in there.

It's not just this one issue. It's the multitude of issues that come before judges who try to push their personal agendas onto the rest of us. That's why we need more constitionalists on the bench, not more liberals.

With the 9th circuit, who needs elected officials?

GOD bless America, land that I love;
(GOD) Stand beside her, and guide her,
Through the night, with the light from above!

From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans,
white with foam.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! My home, sweet home.......
GOD BLESS AMERICA! My home....sweet....home.

Love it, or leave it.
