Penn Cambria @ Bedford
Penn Cambria @ Bedford
Is it possible for a team to play in the 'Game of the Week', for the first four weeks of the season? This year, I believe it is.
After losing a heartbreaker to Westmont and getting pretty well handled by Bishop McCort, Bedford was able to bounce back and hand undefeated Forest Hills a huge smack-down last week IN Sidman, 28-7. The Bisons look to improve to 2-2 and knock off another unbeaten this week in the Penn Cambria Panthers.
Bedford finally opened up the playbook last week in Sidman and the results were outstanding. 4 touchdowns scored by the Bisons last Friday night, 4 different players had touchdowns. Derrick Harris was used, and used quite well at WR last week, as his deep threat alone loosens up the defensive front. Cory Miller, Harris' replacement, rumbled for near 100 yards on Friday night. He is more a fullback type runner with a bigger build. He had lots of room to run free on Friday night, as did Jesse Feaster and John Aaron Marshall.
But that was last week. This week the undefeated Penn Cambria Panthers travel to Bedford. They have beat 3 down teams this year, but won in convincing fashion last week, coming from down 21 at the half to steal a win over huge rival CC last week 26-21. This team plays a full 48 minutes, something that Bedford had yet to do, up until last week.
The line play will be huge in this game, as in the weeks prior to this game. Bedford dominated Forest Hills upfront in all 4 quarters of the game, keeping the bigger, highly touted, Ranger front away from Kyler Ford and allowing him time to pick appart the Ranger secondary. The ability to pass opened up running lanes all night for the Bison, and I'd look for the Bisons to do the same this week. Ford was 10-13 with over 125 yards. It wasn't many yards through the air, but if you can substitute the short run with the short pass, and still be effective, 2nd and 4 is still 2nd and 4, no matter how you get it.
Bedford's defense is stronger now than it ever has been. With Hyatt in the lineup, he provides size in the middle that the Bisons lacked in the first two weeks with Jaber. The D-Line last week created lots of penetration and held up blockers so that the LB's could run free. And Bedford adjusted well in the first half when FH came out in double tight, double wing set. FH thought they'd be able to power the ball right down the field, just as Bishop McCort did in the week before, but the 5 guys upfront proved that would be easier said than done. Bedford limited Forest Hills to 181 yards on offense, 135 of which came on thier first two posessions.
If Bedford gets out in front early on Friday night, don't look for them to fold up camp and start looking foreward to next week, like CC did last week. Penn Cambria is much improved over last year, but they have started the year playing possibly the easiest schedule possible(maybe add a CH in there instead of Johnstown) and getting 3 relatively easy W's. Both teams are coming off huge wins, and huge momentum swings for both teams. Bedford was 0-2 and looking to lose all hopes of the play-offs last week with a loss to FH. They came out and dominated FH for 4 quarters of football and I'd look for them to do the same this week vs. Penn Cambria. The Panthers might be back, but not for long, as they hit the meat of their schedule. They have to face Bedford, Bishop McCort, Forest Hills, and Central(yes, I know, but this team puts up points), and it's not looking very hopeful from here on out.
Bedford will jump out in this game early, then eat the clock up on O and play outstanding defense again. Penn Cambria will come out fired up, but it won't be enough for a surging, inspired Bedford squad. Bedford looks to roll up 6 wins in a row to get ready for the play-off's, and they won't let the Panthers stop them from getting where they want to be.

The bisons changed course last week as I predicted they would and our heading in the right direction. They will derail an overrated PC team and cruise to an easy victory.
BTW...Isn't this Hyatt kid from Hyndman? Raiding the farm team again? I guess we should start calling Hyndman...Nanty Glo South! lol

That's fine ham but why doesn't Hyndman enrollment count with Bedford's as other Coop's do?

Just curious, would the Hyndman enrollment push Bedford to AAA? I remember some bantering a few years back about that, and I'm not sure whatever came of it.
Is the new team mascot now the Bedford Recruiters?

Re: Penn Cambria @ Bedford
Then my guess is that's why Hyndman enrollment wouldn't count against Bedford. If he were taking classes at Hyndman, but playing football for Bedford, then Bedford would have to count their enrollment. Just a thought on my part. Could be completely wrong.
