Question to Ranger Fans

Post by Opinionguy »

Nobody has an answer for me on this one that I have talked to so I figured I'd post it on here.

Why is Ross Carpenter not being used as a receiver this year? I understand if he is not the starting reciever, but in 3 or 4 reciever sets he should be on the field. The kid can make plays.

The current player filling that slot has already dropped 3 huge passes in big situations.

Besides all of that, Carpenter and Rearick have been playing together since they were mini me. There is a lot to be said for a combination that has been working together for that long.

Bad current personel choice by Coach Bailey.

I could probably provide a few answers to that. But I don't know if this message board would be appropriate.

I'm also not sure whether you have an ulterior motive considering the names you frequently mention on here are Oswalt, Carpenter and Rearick, while never mentioning or even acknowledging those players that have more receptions and/or yards.

xylo--
I have no ulterior motive here. And I am assuming (and hoping) since you mentioned most yard thing that you must mean I am leaving out Trout, which was not intentional. Adam can do it all, and needs to be used more running the ball and catching the ball.

It is obvious that Adam and Jake are FH's top two recievers. But if Adam is in the backfield, or in 3 reciever sets, I think Ross should be on the field at that point.

All I'm interested in is that the best team is being put on the field.

From what I have seen, a combination of Trout, Oswalt, and Carpenter would be very difficult to defend from a defensive stand point.

Having followed Ranger football since 1992, the Rangers seem to be doing what they always do .... play seniors first. Now that we've recorded a loss, changes will be made and from what I saw last night, the three receiver set has changed accordingly ( as have other things).

I think that defensive changes regarding the same individual have also occurred.

The only unknown ... was yesterday's practice just to put a scare in certain starters, or are the changes permanent (for now). I doubt that every change made yesterday will last the week, but I suspect several players are on the "perform or else" list and the margin for error is now much smaller.

I agree with you there xylo...it does seem that seniors to get the initial nod when the season starts.

It was just evident to me at least that the best players weren't on the field.

That may just be Bailey's coaching style. If so, then fine, because I will not argue his success.

But on the same term...and this is not the first time it has happened. I think not having the right guys on the field usually cost us the week 3 loss to Bedford, which usually goes hand in hand with the loss of the LHAC crown.

I guess we'll see what happens from here.

Seniors have the opportunity to prove themselves in the preseason scrimmages. After that, the best person should be in, regardless of year or not. IMO.

Bedford beat us -IN- season. Therefore, the playoff monkey vs FH is now BACK on THEIR backs!

Remember, in 1994 Bedford beat FH in regular season play, then fell to the Green and Gold in the playoffs 33-6. The Rangers then went on to the State Championships where they were finally defeated by Mount Caramel 20-14 in Double OT. Plus, there are numerous times FH lost to Bedford in the regular season but, then defeated Bedford in the playoffs.

It is only week 4, remember that.
