Week 5 Picks
Florida Atlantic vs. Louisville:
===================
- I have a feeling Howard Schellenberger is gonna wish Louisville hadn't lost that game last week.
Virginia vs. Maryland:
=================
- Although UVA is over-rated, not even Friedgen has the brains or the tools to beat the Cavs this year. The struggling UM offense is simply not good enough.
Michigan vs. Michigan State:
====================
- Anything can happen in a rivalry game. This could end up an upset, a great one, or a complete blowout. I'm going with a great game with MSU winning again. Too much offensive firepower for the Spartans and too little for the Wolves.
Texas vs. Missouri:
=================
- Missouri is one of the worst teams in any respected conference in the nation, and there's no reason why UT won't score 50 against them. Texas in a huge blowout that will be even worse than anyone thinks.
Indiana vs. Wisconsin:
=================
- I would love nothing more than to see IU beat the Badgers in Madison. I'm not much of an Alvarez fan, and I AM a fan of Blake Powers. This is a game that Hoeppner needs to win to establish an immediate recruiting base. A big win over an over-rated opponent for a first year coach can be a huge boost. But I think our undefeated Hoosiers are in for a rough afternoon.
Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia:
=====================
- Hollywood is not going to be too happy tomorrow. There will be no letdown. You know why? Because the Big East sucks. The Big East is even worse than we know. WVU has won games over bad teams so far, despite the fact that they are making strides with little talent and young talent. But there's no letdown tomorrow, folks. Tech is going to kick the living sh*t out of West Virginia.
UCONN vs. Army:
================
- This has upset written all over it. If Army beats UCONN, you can cross another name off the list, much like Chad Johnson's list in the Bengals locker room. Another body murdered for the Big East? It's a close call, but I'll take the Huskies by 3.
Illinois vs. Iowa:
=============
- There is no way in hell Kirk Ferentz will ever lose a game to Ron Zook.
Baylor vs. Texas A&M:
=================
- This also has upset written all over it, and not just because of last year. Texas A&M still isn't playing the way they should be, and I am really starting to doubt Francione. That team has talent on it, and they continue to drop the ball every year. Take A&M this week, but it might be a long year for the Aggies, even in a weakened Big 12.
Ole Miss vs. Tennessee:
=====================
- No letdown here either. Beating Orgeron will be the closest Fulmer ever comes to beating USC, so expect the Vols to take advantage of that fact. Tennessee by 25.
Ball State vs. Boston College:
===================
- I know BC has a history of inconsistent football, but not even the practice squad could lose to Ball State if they tried.
Navy vs. Duke:
============
- Duke sucks. Give me Navy in an upset. I guess it's an upset.
Utah vs. North Carolina:
================
- Upset potential, but I really don't trust John Bunting, despite beating NC State. Sorry, but give me Utah by 1.
Kent vs. Eastern Michigan:
==================
- Expect Bohnet to have a big day against a very helpless Kent defense. Their mascot is a hummingbird, folks.
Colorado vs. Oklahoma State:
======================
- Hopefully no one will be raped after this game. Rape U. looks to avenge it's loss to Miami by taking out conference foe Okie State. And they'll do just that. Oklahoma State has squeaked by a number of very inept football programs, and their undefeated status is officially flushed down the toilet as of tomorrow.
LSU vs. Mississippi State:
=================
- This should be a bigtime turn-around for the Tigers, who gave up a big lead last week to Tennessee. But this game is going to be closer than it should be, and people will really be asking whether Miles was the right choice. Sure as hell doesn't look like he was, after last week. LSU by 13.
UNLV vs. Wyoming:
==============
- With a Bramlet at the helm, I'm all in for Wyoming.
Minnesota vs. Penn State:
==================
- Finally a ranked opponent for the Nittany Lions. They need to take Cupito out of this game early, and pack the box to absorb Maroney. It's going to take mistake-free football from Robinson, but PSU can win a shootout with the Gophers. Give me Penn State.
USC vs. Arizona State:
===============
- They do have a suspect secondary at times, and Keller is the best ASU quarterback since Plummer. Hagans will be drafted high as well. But make no mistake, dudez. USC is still USC, at least for this year. But expect the bottom to fall out pretty soon afterwards. USC by 28.
Syracuse vs. Florida State:
==================
- Hopefully with the money the Cuse are getting for taking an **** whipping they can go out and get an offensive coordinator. Doesn't matter how good Robinson is if they can't run an offense. FSU by a lot.
Clemson vs. Wake Forest:
==================
- I'd love to see this upset, as I hate the Clemson Tigers, but expect no upset. Tigers roll big.
Iowa State vs. Nebraska:
===================
- Listen. Dan McCarney will ruin this team. I'm telling you. This coach is a joke and he has proven it time and time again. But it will not happen this week, because Callahan still does not have the players to win a game over a semi decent opponent. ISU by 14.
Florida vs. Alabama:
==============
- Nobody is stopping that offense in this year's SEC. Not even a talent-loaded Tide unit. Shula gets his first loss of the year, may end up being his only one. But Leak and the Gators win again.
Southeast Louisiana vs. Tulane:
=====================
- Big clash in the bayou state. Tulane by 17.
Temple vs. Bowling Green:
=====================
- My heart goes out to McGann and our hometwon Owls, but here's a 50 point loss.
Washington State vs. Oregon State:
========================
- Wazzou gives up too many points. Yes, Oregon State gave up 66 to Louisville, but I hate Washington State. Oregon State by 6.
SMU vs. Marshall:
=============
- They can't lose this game after just being beaten by Central Florida. Marshall by 7.
Oregon vs. Stanford:
=================
- Well, considering that Stanford lost to UC Davis... Yeah, not even Gary Crowton could screw up so bad that a team under his signal-calling would lose to Stanford.
Utah State vs. Idaho:
================
- I just don't understand this. How are you a cellar-dweller in the worst I-A conference, get a promotion to a better conference, and suddenly your team is competitive? That makes no sense. Utah State big.
Florida International vs. Florida A&M:
=========================
- Let this me my example to you, being a Sun Belt fan at a Sun Belt school, as to how bad this conference really is. Florida A&M.
Southern Mississippi vs. East Carolina:
=========================
- Dustin Almond could beat East Carolina single-handedly.
Central Michigan vs. Akron:
==================
- Getsy made the right decision, and he wins again.
South Carolina vs. Auburn:
===================
- Auburn is teetering on the top 25, they're probably about 26 right now. This should be a very close game, but I think the "rookie" year woes continue for Spurrier.
Rice vs. UAB:
===========
- Rice is so bad that I wouldn't even talk to someone wearing Rice apparel.
Nevada vs. San Jose State:
==================
- Every time I give Nevada a chance they screw it up. This has upset written all over it. But give me Nevada... I guess.
Arizona vs. California:
=================
- Give them credit where it's due, the starting QB and RB went down with injuries and Cal is playing pretty good football. 5th in the nation in rushing. Cal by 14.
Kansas State vs. Oklahoma:
=====================
- This is my message to Bill Snyder:

IT'S A TRAP!!!!!!
OU knocks off unbeaten K-State.
Houston vs. Tulsa:
===============
- This is just a toss-up. Give me Houston.
Middle Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt:
======================
- Cutler has his Commodores at 5-0!
New Mexico State vs. Louisiana Tech:
=========================
- Tech gets their first win of the season.
Arkansas State vs. Louisiana Monroe:
=========================
- Monroe was supposed to challenge for the conference title. Let's give them a shot.
New Mexico vs. TCU:
=================
- TCU wins too many squeakers to not give them the edge in a close call.
Kansas vs. Texas Tech:
=================
- Yeah, Kansas is undefeated. You know who won't be undefeated after tomorrow? Kansas. Tech by 60.
Buffalo vs. Western Michigan:
====================
- WMU big.
Notre Dame vs. Purdue:
==================
- I have no faith in Joe Tiller's teams. They are consistently amongst the most over-rated teams in the nation on both sides of the ball. Although Kirsche is better than Orton was, expect ND to pull this out.
UTEP vs. Memphis:
==============
- Palmer and Ebell keep the Miners going. UTEP by 16.
Central Florida vs. Louisiana Lafayette:
==========================
- Hey, what the hell, let's make it back to back wins!
South Florida vs. Miami:
==================
- Watch how bad the Big East looks when Miami beats USF tomorrow by 45 points.
BYU vs. San Diego State:
===================
- BYU rebounds after a heartbreaker last week.
Washington vs. UCLA:
==================
- UW may have the worst depth in the nation. UCLA huge.

Don't ask questions.
===================
- I have a feeling Howard Schellenberger is gonna wish Louisville hadn't lost that game last week.
