Re: Ken Salem
Salem is just not very bright. Never was and never will be. He wins on talent alone and not because of anything he or his coaching staff does. All athletics at the school focus on football and he's the worst coach they have in any program.
And to top it off, he's the assistant principal and doesn't do a good job at that either. Ask anyone who's not a starter on the football team and they'll tell you the same thing. For a school that preaches it has high academic standards, you think they would have someone more intelligent in charge.

Username6 said "Wrong"
Does that mean Salem is LESS intelligent? One would gather that, from Username's short answer, would'nt they?

Re: Ken Salem
Had the pleasure of being in McCort's gym recently. Started looking around at all the banners on the walls. There were alot for girl's basketball, girl's volleyball, even girl's track. On one wall, there was just ONE ientzy wientzy football banner that said District 6 Football champion 2001. THAT'S IT!!! One little measily football banner for ALL the years that McCort has played, or at least for the recent years they have played. I don't know about deep in the past, but there was a PCIAA boys basketball banner from 1951. So how far do these banners go back? Something's wrong somewhere, despite continued winning seasons.

Maybe they should discuss this topic on air of one of the McCort football Broadcasts.
I would like to know what the all knowing insight of "DA" (Denny Altimore) would have to say about this topic. I mean according to the McCort Richland game, we are now going to have a segment called..."upon further review with Denny Altimore". HA!
I guess the first episode would be titled...
Nevermind, it's Sunday, and I can't bash a all Holy and Catholic School on Sunday.

coach ken
I was at the game vs rland and i have a few things to say regarding ken salem. is it just me or does he have no idea how to call an offense. He throws 1 yard passes to a the same reciever all the time. He also never uses one of the fastets back ive seen, no offense to the other runners they run hard but this kid has some speed 2 tds in 3 carries on pure speed. Coach ken has to learn to use his people its a joke this rizzo kid isnt back on punts kicks doesnt line up in the slot or anytihng. Hes not the only one either he doesnt use any of the recievers besides spangler so basically spangler sheridan barbin are the only ones with touches and theres no way a D6 title can be one with his gameplan. Utilize talent something sponsky is a master at....even JoPA does it

Re: Ken Salem
if you knew anything about an offense, you'd know that an offense, atleast the throwing aspect of it, is based upon the quarterback dropping back, making reads, and throwing to the open receiver...mccort's offense is not designed around spanglerand I think he does know how to call an offense...just ask el-moldo about the 2001 playoffs, where all arcurio did was pass for 357 yards...I mean you have to be kind of smart to call an offense as powerful as that
Re: Ken Salem
doesn't mean you can play football like someone said in an earlier post, but lets not forget that Pete has been the leading scorer the last two years on the basketball team, the District 6 champion basketball team. But hey that doen't make him a good football player, it makes him a good athlete who could have been a good football player given the chance, but hey I am not a football coach, but i think I called the RIzzo thing pretty good. Look what has happened when he has touched the ball.
footballman4389, great post. Unlike many people, you are able to see obvious things that are right in front of you. Rizzo is a game breaker. why he is not used is a real real good question, maybe someone should email Salem and ask him to reply to this post. I like how you noticed that the only people that are really involved in the offense are Barbin Sheridan and Spangler.
psuwhiteandblue, you have no idea what you are talking about. Back in 2001, yes Arcurio did tear it up, but he passed to many different recievers. And overall, that year, there was no go to guy. They won because Arcurio did a good job of running the offense and could throw, but the main reason they were good was the play of the line. I, know I am right, and lets just say I was at every game that year, including one of Salem's worst games; the infamous Central loss
Here is a little excerpt from the tribune democrat:
“They have so much talent and size and speed and strength and all that good stuff, that they should probably never lose a football game and win the league every year,” Richland coach Brandon Bailey said.
nice quote from coach Baily. At first it seems as through he is giving McCort a compliment, but if you read between the lines, then its more of a dis and one directed at Salem. He is basically saying that with all of the talent McCort has, it is sad that they don't win districts every year or at least more than once. Oh and I think he is also implying that McCort should have beat Carroll, just like they should have a couple of other yearss.
