Heritage: Week 9
Heritage: Week 9
Marion Center @ Penns Manor: Penns Manor is coming off two big wins and is playing good football. MC hung on to beat Homer Center in a game that was played in the mud. The game will be a bit closer than people think but MC is too strong for the Comets. MC’s offense wins this one.
MC-27 PM-7
Saltsburg @ United: Saltsburg’s split back veer just isn’t scoring any points. They are being stopped and forced to rely on an anemic passing attack that features crossing routes that are not working. United’s defense is one of the strongest in the conference and will stop the “Burg” pretty easy. United’s ground game will also keep the Trojans off the field.
UN-33 SA-7
Northern Cambria @ Purchase Line: I thought that NC would be a force this year but boy was I wrong. They have been going in the wrong direction since the 1st two games. Purchase went through their string of losses and should not lose this week.
PL 35 NC 7
Blairsville @ Homer Center: HC is coming off a pretty good performance against MC and a win against Saltsburg. This is the game of the year for them. Last year they even had game-plan books that were prepared a couple weeks before the game. (can’t substantiate this but got this from a reliable source) Blairsville doesn’t feel the same way about Homer but needs this game to secure the 4th seed and a 4th consecutive Heritage championship. HC always plays good defense but struggles on “O”. Blairsville’s offense is the best in the Conference but their “D” ranks near the bottom. Look for Blairsville to light up the sky with their passing game, rain or not. Look for HC to struggle again on O. Blairsville wins this easily.
BL-34 HC-13
Ligonier @ Laurel Valley: This should be the game of the week. Ligonier kept it close last week against Blairsville and actually had their chance to tie the game late, even though they gave up over 430 yards of offense. Laurel Valley, as I said last week, is not a very good team but the second best coaching staff in the conference (don’t even ask) is keeping things close. This week will be no different. Coach Page will have his team ready to play their cross-district rivals so it should be a battle. This will be a defensive game with breaks determining the winner. Look for Ligonier to eek out a win against a very determined Ram squad.
