I work with a guy that played nose guard for Da 'Port with Logan. He also told me, Curtis Martin played with the 'Port Little Tigers "peewee" team before some family troubles led to him moving and living with his grandmother in the district he played HS ball in. I forget- was that Hopewell or somewhere like that?

Curtis Martin attended Allderdice HS in Pittsburgh (Squirrel Hill).

BTW, Holly is right...Have fun busting Shaler's chops...Any District 5 or 6 team in any classification would lose to Shaler, let alone Da Port.

They'd all lose to Penn Cambria too, right?

Johnstown has potentially 3 kids going to D-IA schools this year. They won 4 games this year. D-IA talent on a team doesn't mean they'd win every game they play in.

C'mon man...You're comparing apples to oranges...Are you trying to compare WPIAL AAAA to teams that play in A and AA??? Those mighty Ranger teams that went far in the PIAA playoffs would've been 2-7 if they played in the WPIAL Quad North. Gimme a break. Saying that FH could compete in AAAA is like saying Youngstown State could win the ACC.

D1 football players at Shaler the past 8 years?

Steve Meister, OL (Miami of Ohio)
Steve Scuillio, OL (MarshallU and NFL)
Tom Farrington, LB (Army)
Tim Broderick, WR (UConn)
Zac Derr, K (Akron)
Chris Siegel, QB(Cincy)
Bob Dzvonick, DL (BuffaloU and NFL)

I know this area and it doesn't have talent sorry to bust your bubble there AE! I have seen billions of tapes of HS playas all around the country!! The Area is very low in Talent and I can't believe an expert like yourself doesn't know that yet!!

wpial~titan,

You have it right with the "apples and organges" thing, BUT then you lost it when you said that the "AA" Rangers would of been 2-7 in the "AAAA" North.

I'd say they are both equal if you look at the sample of players in their respective classifications. I'm sure if Tyrone or FH grew by two classifications they would do well in AAAA, but they aren't AAAA. They do pretty well in AA.

Should of just stopped with the first two sentences. I like watching those big high schools play football. It's like watching a small college play. Can you imagine those Texas 5-A schools? geez...
