I'll give you an example of some home cooking.

1999- second round playoff game Forest Hills vs Bedford at Forest Hills. Ref Crew- Tyrone Area.

Forest Hills is spanking Bedford late (after losing to them earlier in the year I might add), something like 34-6, and Bedford starts getting frustrated about losing and starts throwing punches and taking cheap shots.

Pierce, middle linebacker that year for Bedford, gets under the pile and repeatedly punches Forest Hill's best lineman that year (Bassett). Bassett shoves Pierce when then they are getting off the pile. Result -- Flags thrown and players ejected.

Same thing happens later to Forest Hills' starting kicker after another cheap shot after an attempted extra point.

Result, Forest Hills loses two key members off the team because the officals lost control of the game, and decided just to start chucking people.

The next week Forest Hills, who was ranked 4th in the State at the beginning of the year, plays Tyrone to the final buzzer. Tyrone goes on to win the State Championship.

Now, does Forest Hills win if they have those two players, maybe, maybe not. But it increases their chances. How often do you see people get thrown out of a high school football game? In Fact, this is the only Forest Hills players I can ever remember being ejected from a Don Bailey Squad.

To say that officals never have another motive when officiating a game is not realistic. Most of the time if a bad call is made, thats all it was. But there are times when other things are going on.

Was this the case in the MV CR game? Who knows. Form your own opinion. But I gaurantee this stuff does occur.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Opinion Guy, my aren't we cynical? Please get your facts correct before you start posting them on a message board. The crew that worked the Forest Hills/Bedford game in 1999 was not from the Tyrone Area. So lets put that one to rest.

On the Bassett ejection unless you have worked any type of football game, you have no idea what happens under a pile. The officials did what they had to do, dead ball penalties and ejections for what transpired. The Bedford kid got ejected for his penalty and Bassett got ejected for his retaliation. What were the officials supposed to do? I guess in your opinion they needed to eject the Bedford kid but let Bassett continue to play.

As far as the kicker, why don't you tell the rest of the story? The kicker was ejected for kicking a Bedford player after the play was over. That is the easiest call an official can make. Out in the open in front of everyone and just wind up and kick at him, it was a no brainer.

And as far as these being the only 2 ejections under the Bailey tenure, that also isn't correct. I know for a fact in 2001 another FH player was ejected in the playoffs.

If you want to come on a forum and rip the officials, at least have the common courtesy of having the correct facts. You make it sound as if you have first hand knowledge that the officials had another agenda, you just didn't have any facts that were correct.

As I recall, and I was there, Bedford committed 1 or 2 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties before the altercation where Bassett retaliated. I don't recall any ejections until that point. In my opinion the refs should have realized what was going on and not ejected anyone from FH. I don't agree with the retaliation, but at the same time, Bedford obviously had nothing to lose by provoking the situation again and again.

Gabe Wingard was ejected in 2001. This was a classic BAD call. Gabe was standing and a Tyrone player on the ground grabbed his ankles to keep him out of the remainder of the play. Gabe of course tried to get free by pulling/kicking his leg (like anyone would to try and get out of an ankle hold). Funny thing is .... that looks an awful lot like kicking someone in the head, which is the reason he was ejected.

Well Stripes old boy you really nailed it with that last post. If you look at most of the officiating crews and I'm talking mostly D6 because that's who dose most of the Bedford games, they are either to old or to fat to as in your own words be able to keep up with the athletes and should not be doing any level games let alone varsity. I realize the games can't go on without these guys but just throwing 6 people out there who aren't qualified just to say u have a crew to cover a game isn't doing the athletes any favors. Its a huge problem and one the PIAA really has no way to fix. You need them and if you can read a rule book and pass a test but have no clue about the game you're officiating you can still become one.
